besides fasting and avoiding water and food before certain time prior to SN ingestion, many people here also talk about consuming diazepam and other medicines as well. even medicines for numbing their tongue so the SN taste doesn't irritate them. Is all of these actually necessary or just swallowing a cup of water consisting of 25 grams of sodium nitrite with 99% purity enough?
Even only 2g of SN can kill you already. The meds and protocol are primarily suggested to increase the chance of success.
As I understand it- the antiemetic is the important one. The others are there more as a 'luxury' to make the experience less stressful.
As to whether you will fail if you don't take the antiemetic- you might, you might not. People have suceeded with just SN. Others have failed. Others have taken the antiemetic and still failed. I'm not sure if there are concrete numbers/ probabilities. It would however seem there's a higher chance of success when the basic protocols (fasting, antiemetics) are used.
There are megathreads here that list successful and unsuccessful attempts. If you want to form a better idea on why some people succeed or fail, I'd recommend viewing them. They would hopefully come up in searches. I know the former member Vizzy collated quite a few reports- if you search 'SN bible' by that member- hopefully it will come up.
