Discussion In your opinion, what's the easiest and most effective method for suicide?

I may want to kill myself, but not anyone else, and I don't want to make anyone else kill me either. That cuts out a variety of methods such as train/truck or hydrogen sulfide/sodium azide. I'm in a highrise and the whole city is surrounded by water, so I have ways to go on short notice, but I'd prefer to go to sleep and not wake up, as with N or F.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about partial vs full suspension - isn't drop hanging a lot more effective/painless with less margin of error? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but simple suspension wouldn't break your neck and you'd experience a lot of distress as you asphyxiate, while a long enough drop would knock you out or even kill instantly?
Am I missing something here? Is there some catch to drop hanging that I'm not realizing?

Full suspension will not break your neck. "You'd experience a lot of distress as you asphyxiate" - this is not true. Full suspension when done properly (which is not hard) will immediately stop the flow of blood (which carry oxygen) to your brain, leading to rapid unconsciousness. if you watch some videos of full suspension, there is no struggling.

Drop hanging is effective but the challenge is the set up. Whatever you set up, it better be extremely robust to support the falling weight of your entire body. If there is mechanical failure you will end up simply breaking your neck and/or crushing your windpipe. Personally that "drop" part is not necessary in my opinion.

Hanging, no matter what form, will not kill you instantly. Your consciousness may be gone but it takes time for your brain and heart to shut down.

When considering sourcing of N I would actually say all in all the easiest way is train decapitation. Most people have railways in reach, you just have to go there and lay down.

this method seems like the hardest to me. right up there with jumping off of a building.. standing on a platform when a train goes by is enough to put me off

I think charcoal suicide is the easiest, and most pain free way to go.
