note that they will likely be more traumatised and disappointed that they'd lose u, vs u lose an exam that may be repeatable.
maybe you might pass though, feel free to study/revise moderately and hopefully you will pass.

Thanks, it is natural to be worried; it is even worse the first time. I remember everybody felt a mixture of worry, anxiety, and fear before exams. A couple of points:

If this is for a college:
- Exams can be repeated (sometimes even more than once).
- You can usually repeat the whole course the next year.
- It all depends on the college, but failing exams is not as catastrophic as it might seem. In some difficult classes, more than half of the people fail on their first attempt. And they continue and finish their studies.
- Failing exams is a 'normal' part of college studies; many people experience it.

If this is some kind of secondary school leaving exam:
- These usually have a high success rate, but failure is again not catastrophic.
- They can also be repeated, usually only the classes/courses failed, so it is actually easier the next time.

I would suggest researching the rules and understanding what happens if you fail. Typically, it is not horrible at all. You will be required to repeat only the parts you fail, which is easier than studying everything at once for the first time.

About your parents: They are people too, so it is impossible for me to know how exactly they will react, but you may try to openly share your worries with them.

Given my low self-esteem, I usually set low expectations with them while studying. I told them I was unsure if I would pass the exams, how difficult it was, and I never committed to or promised anything.

Anyway, good luck with your exams.

Anyway, good luck with your exams.
short answer: i know that these (college) exams can be just taken again if i fail them, but im worried because i wasted a year already when i went to a different uni last year and i switched careers. my parents werent happy about me wasting a year but they said that at least i found a profession i actually like. thank you for your luck! im gonna try my best. im definitely motivated

deeper answer that you don't have to read if you dont want to. its just me venting and mentioning things i didn't say in the original post so it all makes more sense: this year, because of seasonal depression, i ended up not going to uni for a whole month- or more, idk i lost track of time- and just rotting in my room unable to leave. it was bad. i failed both midterms on literally all the subjects i was taking and next week are the exams. i LOVE this career but the subjects this first year are boring as fuck. plus its cold and i just started to lose motivation and literally couldn't get out of bed. i was embarrassed to reach out to the people that im close with about my situation (and my parents are in their own little world) so i truly was just there. drowning. i thought it wasnt a big deal until it was. and now im stuck here. i have a week to ace i dont want to say how many exams. talking about the situation here made me feel so much better. im probably not gonna do good but i can pass half of them im sure. studying is really hard for me. i can't concentrate on anything im not interested and i really wasn't taught how to study- that's why i just cheated during all high school. university is so euughehejsbejsjwjd. maybe im just overreacting and it's something i'll overcome just like everyone else. anyway i wont ctb over this heh. thank u for reading

First off, you are young. You have plenty of times to right the ship. No one has all the answers at your age.

Don't pay attention to what your friends are doing. All of our situations are different. You are going to move at the pace that is suitable to your life.

As long as you are moving forward, whether it is school or mental healthcare, then you are doing something.

If you are in the US, depending on what type of school, then it can be an expensive endeavor that should not be taken lightly. You should only do it when you are ready. You will thank yourself when you do.

I'll try to reply back with some studying advice. I haven't been a student in years so I have to think about it.

Your parents should understand that not everyone is made for university!

I failed university and I had a good live for several decades despite failing big at university.

That's not the end! I hooe your parents understand it and they should not pressure you and you should not pressure yourself.

What's a uni-degree worth if you're burnt out after having it and you still can't make use of it bc you're already burnt out in such a young age?

this is really reassuring to read, thank you. i was being so dramatic, i wont ctb over exams

about the studying techniques- dont worry about that. all it takes is a simple google search for me to learn some. im so ashamed of not knowing how to study being a university student. it truly can't be difficult i think maybe im not trying hard enough

you're really kind though. thank you
