Discussion If you had the ability to be good at one thing, what would you choose and why?

Title. But if you had the ability to be good at one thing (that you're not already good at), what would you choose and why?

For me it would be playing piano. they're such gorgeous instruments and I wish I was good at playing an instrument in general. I'm a very slow learner though and I don't have the funds nor space for one, but I'd be nice if I had the opportunity to try.

Being attractive. I am ugly and it kept me from too many things. Sometimes i feel like life is an RPG and i put all my points into all the stats except charisma. I hope i get reincarnated as a good looking man or woman.

This is a pretty boring reply but I guess career stuff or maybe academics ... I kinda enjoy being sorta bad at hobbies since in a counterintuitive way it feels good to have free reign to ... well, suck lol. I suppose it feels a little empowering to me, or at least I try to approach it that way (sometimes this is Very Difficult however...) So I feel like if I could at least improve at things where I am obligated to perform to other peoples' standards, I would be okay with being a little crummy at all the other things, cause that's just for me.

I love your answer OP though, and I really hope you can get access to a piano someday or even a keyboard or something. I love pianos too, I agree that they're so beautiful. There's nothing wrong with being a slow learner. For me personally I think something really nice about learning an instrument is that it's just plain fun to Make Sounds, so even if it's not perfect, it's still really really enjoyable to play.

being social is the first thing i think of. i don't really always like to talk to people all that much, but i have to and being bad at it is painful.

Oof, this is tough. I am torn between playing an instrument or some trade (like woodworking). Really, I just want to make something with my hands.

I'd like to be better at what I do already (creative job.) Although, I really admire people who compose music. When I listen to some pieces, I wonder how on earth someone created something so incredible. I admire people who can play music also but, I suppise I see the composer as one of a kind.

I swear with my supposed intelligence and knack for picking things up, if I had a neurotypical brain I would be FIRE in this world and I'd be able to reach any dream I set my mind to. I'd also be less prone to traumatic events and would most likely have experienced less of those than now.

I'd like to be good at a sport, on professional level, where I could make enough money not to worry about money. I used to enjoy the outdoors and physical activities. If we could do the things we love as a job, life should be better.

I'd say the same for myself. I thought about this question for a while and if I *had* to pick one thing - one single thing - to be good at, it would be being normal/neurotypicality. I almost guarantee my life would have turned out exponentially better had I have not been born as an autistic person.

Oh, this too! I wanted to be a walking translator when I was a kid but I went into science instead. Still, I like to pick up tidbits of languages whenever I can.
