  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

It's easy to preach about the beauty of life when most people's lives are going well. Not so much when the lives of the overwhelming majority are in the shitter. If we're really about to head for a Great Depression (I'm skeptical. I still think it will just be a mild recession.), call me crazy but I think it will be a boon for the assisted suicide movement.

I've wondered this too. What conditions would need to occur for assisted suicide to be more accepted. I also think suffering and dismal quality of life is the key. Enough people need to struggle so that they become more sympathetic towards wanting to leave. If they are struggling that much though, anti-natilism may also take hold- which will nip the problem in the bud.

The trouble is though- it needs to make financial sense to those who are the wealthiest and most powerful. That might be tricky if they still rely on us minions to sustain their wealth. Even though more of the population may end up supporting the right to die, I suspect they will still resist it- if it means them losing money.

Plus, ultimately- it's still trying to convince parents and families that they need to let loved ones go. I think that will always be a hurdle.

The two situations I think that could change things significantly are: Climate change. If things get so bad that we can't feed everyone. If we can't generate enough power to provide electricity. If extreme weather and 'natural disasters' are demolishing infrastructure every other week, it may start to make sense to allow a voluntary cull of the population. If people realise they're less likely to starve if others voluntarily exit, they may warm to the idea. Once it actually benefits them, it may become more appealing.

I also think that if AI really does develop to the point computers and robots are doing most of our jobs- I wonder how people will make money then- the majority of people anyway. I think the pressures of the poorest people having no money to buy things will make them useless to the rich. Why would they support them, for nothing in return? Maybe currently, they'll provide welfare for a small percentage of people- to look as if they are socially honourable. What happens if it becomes most of the population who can't find work though? Maybe it will make more sense to get rid of them- where possible.

I used to think about this a lot but unfortunately, most humans, especially those in power have little or no regard for human suffering.

As posted above, environmental factors will likely cause mass disruption, collapse of agriculture and infrastructure, natural disasters, many deaths and not until things get truly truly bad wil this even be considered.

I think a gradual collapse of civilised society with potentially isolated communities of ultra rich and powerful who have resources is much more likely than assisted suicide or accessible suicide methods becoming available to general public, which is just...it's stupid

Talk of a base income without working for it is becoming more apparent everyday. But as the saying goes, nothing is for free in life. Talk about needing to do as the government says to get that money is just as loud.

This is what i see as the most likely future, enslavement of the 99% of the people who aren't rich. In parts of Asia they call this the social credit system which most of us already have heard about. People there who's social credit score is "below" live in the gutter they say.

The rich don't want our money anymore, they already have all of it. Money is a digital fantasy, which only holds value because we believe in it. Only thing the richest people still want from us is obedience, is what i believe. Just my opinion of a possible future based on what i've seen.

The world as we know it will soon pass.

If they do basic income, I don't think it will last long. Imagine millions upon millions of people with nothing to do all day, everyday in the prime of their life. I don't see how it doesn't start to get violent, unless they create some incredible entertainment opportunities to prevent people from ever getting bored.

"quote Aldous Huxley"
"The perfect dictatorship would have the appearance of a democracy, but would basically be a prison without walls in which the prisoners would not even dream of escaping. It would essentially be a system of slavery where, through consumption and entertainment, the slaves would love their servitudes."

The TV is doing just fine with making people drool at it endlessly i'd say and then there is the phone/pc and gaming ofcourse.

Anyway i wouldn't worry about those millions and even billions to much.
Because as Bill Gates said back in 2010 at

To be clear, in short he says this:
If we do a really good job on vaccines and other stuff, we can lower the world population by 10-15%

Lil something most people apparently misunderstood.
Bill Gates is the actual one that funded the corona vaccine which we could only get if we signed away our rights.

I wish the coronavirus vaccine had been fatal for me. Alas, I took all the recommended doses for the first year or so and am still here and healthy as an ox.
