Hello everyone!

I planned to CTB this evening and I originally intended to use my butterfly for that, as I am not American and don't have access to firearms. However, after doing some research on this forum, while I was waiting for my account to be accpeted, I found out that not only are the chances of survival quite high, it's also very painful and difficult to do.

I then looked through the other methods in the resources thread until came across something that I originally never wanted to do because title; hanging. According to said thread, it only takes little effort to do, it's quick (apparently you pass out within seconds, which doesn't seem realistic to me [there once was some guy on 4chan who made a thread after strangulating someone to death and he pointed out that it was a much more difficult and time-consuming than they made it look in the movies, so...]) and chances of survival are low, if you're not found within 30 minutes.

Can someone tell me if this is actually acurrate? This honestly sounds like it's too good to be true; Fast, relatively painless and reliable.

The thread also mentioned how you could use a necktie to do it, which I don't have. Could I perhaps use something like a cable instead? I used to make music for fun in the past and that has left me with quite the amount of thick audio cables. I also have several extension cords I could use. Other than that, I'm not sure what I could use. Also, the thread mentioned that lubricating the, in my case, cable would be helpful. I have lube, but it's the one used for, you know, the big seks. Is that fine too?

Feel free to make suggestions or ask me anything.

I've attempted hanging before and it wasn't painless at all. It felt like my head was going to explode and my eyes were going to pop.

Ok, for that we need to think about what is happening to the body when you try to hang yourself.

First of all you will have two ways or hanging and to possible outcomes to the hanging.

Full Hanging and partial Hanging. it is very intuitive, full you will be completely suspended and partial, well partially suspended, part of you body will still be touching the ground.

two possible outcomes. When hanging was "designed" the idea was for the person to drop from a significant height and be fulling hanging, thus breaking their neck, and in theory it doesn't seem so hard, the weight and height and thickness of the rope were supposed to be calculated to just break the neck so the person dies nearly instantly. HOWEVER, that didn't work more than it did, often people's necks would be stronger than anticipated, the rope wouldn't be positioned just right, the height for the drop wasn't enough...what then?

Well then you are left with the other option, suffocating, less fun must I say, much more painful, much slower. Lots of people panicked trying to grasp at the rope around their necks, we as animals have this panic response to the lack of air, (hypoxic hypoxia). So that obstruction of the airways will possibly cause panic and fear response, and it will be very stressful, but not only that you are putting alot of pressure on your head and neck muscles, they will on a full hanging be holding all of you body weight, they were not designed for that, so it will invariably hurt. And it will take a 2 minutes maybe, I am not sure, for you to lose conciousness and another 2 or 3 for you to actually die.

But remember time isn't exacly "constant" 2 min may seem really fast when talking to someone or playing a game, but have you tried planking? two minutes feel like ages.

TLDR: I wouldn't recomend hanging. But good luck to you, on whatever you decide

Besides (partial) hanging, there isn't much I can do, really. I have a butterfly, as mentioned, but people on here recommend that you don't do it that way, for chanche of survival and pain reasons.

If you have any better alternatives, I'm happy to hear them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when it comes to partial hanging, you're technically not suffocating, right? You are just restricting bloodflow to your brain, which technically leads to death by lack of oxygen, however it's not like your airways are restricted.

There is a lot of misinformation about the method, the best thread to start reading is this one:

Thread 'Evelyn's complete guide on how to hang yourself with both partial and full suspension hanging'

It includes WPD videos, so you can see firsthand how the procedure and mechanism of death work. If you do it right, consciousness fades quickly..

It will always be better to have the right materials (rope) than other improvised things.

If you feel too much pressure in your head as if it were going to explode, it means that you are doing something wrong and you are only blocking the jugular veins. You'll need to check if you're using too little weight or if the knot or ligature is in the wrong position.

Full suspension will always be better than partial.

Thanks for the guide! I cannot do the full suspension method because I'm too pussy for that, and also because I have nowhere to attach my cable to.

And yeah, I know you said rope would be better, but I don't have a rope lying around, so this has to do.

Please, if you're not 100% sure, don't do it. It's better to wait and do your research.. and looking for better materials. It is advisable not to take risks; we do not want to end up worse off than we are.

Good news, I found a necktie. That should do the trick for sure, right? I also have a bathrobe belt.

The 4chan thread you saw was very likely some guy LARPing. At any rate, you can't compare forcefully strangulation with the properly performed hanging methods. It is probably not as painful as one imagines if you hit the correct spot, but there will inevitably be some torment. Word of caution, failed attempts or "test runs" can lead to permanent brain damage.

If you cut off your air supply (air choke) instead of, or in addition to, your blood supply to your brain, it will be quite "uncomfortable".

You have to block the arteries in your neck for a quick and painless death, lube helps to prevent your skin being caught.
