A previous post kind of covered what I was about to write. There are two things that come to mind. Just for some background, I'm Muslim myself.

1) Is the sin of suicide something that entitles one to eternal punishment? From my studies of my own religion, it is not.

2) Our version of God isn't much different. God is all-powerful and can judge as He wills. Is it not completely possible that God may also take you to account while keeping your struggles in mind and judge you based on your circumstances? Humans on this forum can empathize and understand each other's struggles, I'm sure God can also :)

The thing about religion is that it is human's interpretation of god's will. People who have had near death experiences claim that there is nothing on the other side. If god does exist, god cannot be vengeful, what god would punish people for taking their own life when the suffering becomes too much? Have you even wondered if suicide is god calling someone to his side? I'm an athiest but grew up in a Christian society so some of the dogma remains inside me, but I have questioned some of the interpretation.

You know; I believe that is the very issue rooted in my procrastination about CTB'g my own self. It's hammered into us as children that will happen and anyone who does anything so "cowardly" deserves that. Seems like parents want to pass along that ideology to their children and have them live-in fear for the rest of their lives.

That and other parenting gaffes is the very reason we have so many young people not only suiciding but taking weapons to school and taking lives in the process.

I have always held to a particular creedo when it came to my daughters. That it is easier to raise a strong child than to repair a broken adult.

But I too am frightened by the possibility of eternal pain and suffering beyond what this world presents.
