I hope a video demonstration of the product surfaces. I will like to ensure it actually works before putting any money down.

I actually found while searching today a 12 minutes presentation that displays and describes the device by the man who engineered it on Vimeo when I googled "R2D DeBreather"

Hi, Ocean! You probably have these numbers for Exit, but if not:

(+31) 65783 8228 (NL)
(+44) 7883 509 765 (UK)
(+61) 407 189 339 (AU)
(+1) 360 961 1333 (USA)

When I called the US #, the lady was glad to answer my questions.

Anyone who's used this site for more than a week or two comes to realize that many--if not most--posters are not willing to spend the time reading a thread from the beginning.

For most of the threads here, personal stories and problems, it's no big deal you can jump in any time.

For the occasional informational thread--the mega-threads for each method--this can cause problems. The same question is asked over and over because the person didn't read the answer in an earlier post. Stan realized this with the ridiculously bloated original SN mega-thread, so he wrote a condensed version.

The following is from a technical paper written years ago on an earlier version of the Debreather. (I'll also include a link to the entire paper for those really interested.) To understand how it works you need just a basic understanding of human respiration:

"Air is composed of about 79%nitrogen and 21%oxygen.During the human breathing cycle, air inflates the lungs and
oxygen is passed to the heart and then circulated throughout the body. A waste byproduct of cellular respiration is carbon dioxide, which the heart pumps to the lungs for exhalation. An exhaled breath is approximately 79%nitrogen, 17%oxygen, and 4%carbon dioxide. The need to eliminate carbon dioxide is what triggers the impulse to breath
."

Combining Xali1970 and my summary, with the Debreather:

The user puts on the half-mask and breathes normally. He breathes in a closed loop. Your exhaled breath is scrubbed of CO2. Each breath you take contains less oxygen and more nitrogen, a disruption of the body's oxygen cycle. Eventually you lose consciousness and die from oxygen deprivation.

Here's a link to a very old paper describing the oxygen cycle, the principle of a scuba rebreather, the principle of the debreather, and the results from early field testing (actual observed--and somewhat assisted--suicides.)

No, it is a closed system. Read the explanation I just posted.

You've got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually it will be available from Exit pre-assembled, that's the idea, make things easier for people in need.

No, incorrect.

I want to add that I'm leaving this site as of today, switching over to the Exit International forum. I'll monitor and answer PM's for today. Best of luck to those here, please read and contemplate my signature quote from the great poet Rilke. For all you younger posters especially--yes, you're right, life is unfair--and amazing and difficult and easy and terrible and wonderful and the whole mystifying frustrating challenging mess is here to be experienced.
I'm nervous
I did looks like there is a second charge too if i'm reading it correctly ? Does seem iffy must admit . maybe someone who is with exit could get it checked out and confirmed what the payment methods and route to go to purchase etc should be .
The fucked up thing is you can't even really try it properly for accuracy because then you'd be dead
Some shady shit here. I went to the website and if you read carefully, you are only buying "title" to the device where it sits. Then you have to "arrange shipment" separately with Rocket Express - at extra cost.

Some simple googling shows Rocket Express is an outright scammy reshipment scam. Complaints of stolen credit cards, money never received, goods lost.

so, as with anything Nitschke, more to it than it seems and probably more $$$. I went to right2die as soon as I read this with intention of ordering one but now idk.
Fuck
120% sure it's a scam
Do you still feel this way?

No, it most certainly is not a scam.

Unfortunately, much (not all) of this forum is exactly like the rest of the internet: full of misinformation, rumors posted as the truth, opinions posted as the truth, lies posted as the truth. People then read the misinformation and lies, do 5 minutes of Googling, and then repost posing as informed experts, further contaminating the pool. Rinse and repeat. It's a fucking mess.

Philip Nitschke is a pioneer in the Right-To-Die movement who has dedicated his life--since before most of the posters here were born--to the idea that suicide is a fundamental human right. Without him this forum would not exist. Any half-baked uninformed idiot criticizing him here is just that, an idiot.

He just gave a 2-hour live-streamed meeting from Helsinki, Finland, this past Thursday--available to Exit International members. He showed one, demonstrated it, and spoke extensively about the human physiologic principles that make the debreather a viable method, once again (for the tenth time) confirming its reliability. No, it's not 100% reliable--like every method--mostly because of user error. A can opener is not 100% reliable because some people can't use one properly!

Exit International has contracted with a Chinese firm to manufacture the debreathers. They are using another firm to sell them, as a form of a warehouse wall to physically and legally distance themselves from the product in order to escape legal prosecution and persecution from the authorities, just as they've had to pretend that Maxdog regulators are for beer brewing. The coronavirus outbreak in China has delayed production, no one knows for how long.

Feel free to PM me with any questions

Even better. On another website they are advertising the De(re)breather as an emergency breathing device aimed at police and civil workers lol. Good one.

I think that part of the confusion is that there is and has been for many years a widely-used device called a rebreather. I did a lot of scuba diving and used one. It scrubs the diver's exhaled breath of carbon dioxide and allows them to rebreath that air since it still contains oxygen. I think, I'm not sure, that firemen use a similar device since it allows them to enter a burning building with a smaller tank on their backs.

Exit International has developed a Debreather. It scrubs the breath of both carbon dioxide and oxygen, eventually leaving the person peacefully breathing just nitrogen leading to death by hypoxia. In my personal opinion, trying to make a clever pun, they made a mistake in naming the device. It is causing further confusion in an already confused arena.

really? that's very suspicious, @a_strange_day... would you mind sharing a link to the site targeting police and civil workers? just want to investigate whether this rebreather/debreather thing is really legit...

I don't blame you, the relentless over asking of the same questions that are easily found earlier in the thread, in Stan's protocol and/ or Googling the question. Sorry you're leaving though, I'm just getting started here and appreciate your intelligence and logic. Cheers! All the best

There is nothing suspicious. I think it's just a different way to "present" the product, like they did with the Max Dog regulator. I won't post a direct link since it's against the rules but you should be able to find it if you google the first three words in the image below..

Cool, so you just take the oxygen cartridge/canister out? I'm wondering if you'll be able to buy extra nitrogen cartridges?
my idea is that they'll be able to advertise them legally this way. How about you guys?

not targeted for firemen because those people already have whatever they need. It is targeted 4 other people on the sight besides fireman. Like police and other civil servants
sorry if this is confusing I had to edit it a few times to get it right

I'm glad you are here. I feel better knowing you are around. :)
Some post are just so silly I can't resist answering or just so heartbreaking I don't know what to say.

But that's this forum in a nutshell.
