So I'm in the middle of the second semester of Informatics engineering now.

Ever since the first semester, I've been reflecting on how much I've forgotten from my previous education, I think it's rather worrying.

I've basically forgotten basic reality stuff like metric units, elementary, middle, and high school maths and physics.

Ironically, I was able to pass through quadratic, differential and integral without understanding much of the basic algebra. (I still failed my physics class though)

I feel like I should've been able to retain some crucial bits of my previous education.

I can relate, I'm restarting me education again next month after being out of education for a couple years and I've completely forgotten everything from my previous education.
It's completely normal though, information that you don't use you will forget quickly unless its relevant to your day to day life. You are far from "brain dead" for forgetting things.

That's great actually! I can imagine it must've taken a lot of courage.

How old are you btw? There must've been a difference when it comes to the type of education you're getting depending on the age ranges.

I'm 22, barely completed high school and just now attempting to get a diploma after being a neet for four years. A lot of the things I learnt in high school math I have to completely relearn before taking this course, even the most basic stuff :P
Not quite sure what you mean by the different types of education depending on your age range, could you clarify?

Thank you! It's been a struggle but taking these small steps has been really important

I've heard a case of a someone impersonating a teenager to sneak into school.

So I figured there must be a different type for people older than 20.
