Venting I gave God one more day...

I "told" "God" yesterday that I would only be interested in the idea of him for one more day lest I go insane from the dichotomy of the supposition of his existence and his complete absence in my life. I gave him a day to give me some sort of blessing since I have had none in my life.

And then the fucking Pope died. The fucking Pope died.

When I saw that on the news I laughed because this meant that God was not listening to me and he is real, he was a dick playing a lil' prank on me, or this was just a coincidence and he's not real. Proud to say that I no longer care for religion.

Death within the Christian faith isn't the end, so the Pope's death isn't evil or bad.. doesn't mean that a God doesn't care for you..

Believe me I've had a lot of problems in my life, but God is not the cause of the reason for them, the failure of people, the sin and suffering in the world is it's cause, not God's.

It can seem like some are blessed by all sorts of things while others struggle irreparably, and we wouldn't always understand why, but God being sovereign, he is above what we can fully understand.

I am not emotional with the death of the Pope nor am I concerned that his death is good or bad. My gripe is not with where my life is now on its own; my gripe is that despite my devotion to God, mass, volunteering, scripture, and all of that, I have yet to receive one blessing from God in all of my life when I have asked and begged and cried for years. The Pope's death provided me with a silly little epiphany that God must not be real. It all makes sense that way.

If somehow I am wrong, though, in the words of a man sent to be gassed at a Mauthausen concentration camp, "If there is a God, He will have to beg for my forgiveness."

This argument often works for those who are baffled that some events in the world could happen by the hand of God or under his watch, just like the gassing of the innocent man above.

But I am not baffled. I am not confused. Occam's razor: there is no God. And what a beautiful thing that is.

It's not god's cause? If there is an almighty god this god could have created everything in a way all this doesn't happen! He already knew that Adam & Eve would eat the apple - why did he create the apple tree at all? He already knew that they would eat the apple and he already knew that he would throw them out of paradise. Very questionable practices imo!

If there is a god he is the one who could solve each and everyone's problems if they ask him to do so and if god really wanted to!

If religious beliefs were a kind of instinct that all humans have and it's the same for everyone then there might be a chance that there is a creator but the reality is there are far too many different religions and beliefs all over the world and even inside Christianity there are too many different believes as that there could be one creator behind it.

It comes down to 'long suffering' and the book of Job, the life and death and resurrection of Jesus, the persecution of the early church in the new testament etc.. it does well and truly seem at times that God doesn't hear us or worse he doesn't help us in our time of need, even when we ask... Why it is that everything isn't answered immediately, or how it seems many have an easier road I do not know.

i feel you for 20 years i've been a christian, but as you said either god isn't real or he's just an asshole who ignore's our cries.
i feel like he needs to show a sign for me to truly believe in him again, and until then i curse him.

This is funny, but keep in mind a LOT of people died yesterday and he was old! If you're looking for a good day, the advice I have is to change your routine in some way. That helps me a lot. Like if it's that bad I'll take a sick day and leave the city and not answer my phone. Even if it's just to walk around.

Not sure if you were looking for advice or anything but I wanted to give it because finding "one day" sometimes seems impossible. I always feel if I take a day off my life would fall apart, but once I do it, even if it puts me behind a little bit, I feel better.

I totally feel you. I am going through the same experience, and often, begging for his mercy brings me more pain and trouble than just keeping quiet. It seems like God it is either very sadistic or simply he just doesn't exist/care. Sometimes I wish to be miserable wrong, unfortunately every day I have a new proof that aint gonna happen.
