ive never naturally hyperventilated to the extent that i can confidently label it as hyperventilation, so im honestly unsure if i'm even doing it correctly. what kind of breath/sounds should i expect if hyperventilating? asking so i know if im even doing it right because i have yet to lose consciousness after doing the thumb thing. ive been mainly breathing from my diaphragm

edit: swb stands for shallow water blackout, and also side question, would it work if instead you pass out onto some material that suffocates you or are people also prone to moving around after losing conciousness

The only way I successfully hyperventilated to a point of passing out was to get myself out of school in 9th grade and so was standing and so cannot speak on laying in shallow water (I assume youre laying.)

I repeatedly inhaled and exhaled as fast as I could with dropping my head between my knees (doubling over from waist) and holding breath. Then pick up body a bit still bent over but more upright, and continue inhaling and exhaling rapidly. Drop head and hold breath again. Needs to be repeated maybe 10-12 times in rapid succession. Idk i woke up on the floor, so.

I must say I do not see this as a good way to go. For example, will this be done in a bathtub? So, on the way down, say, you slam and slide your head, your head doesnt even make it into the water, you're found, and now have a lifelong brain injury...idk I dont think this is the way.

thank you for the detailed explanation!! + im sorry you went through that (':

for hyperventilation im half thinking of it for swb but also half thinking for partial hanging, if im able to pass out from it while standing / very slightly crouched i will use it during partial
