I still have my "if"s and "maybe"s. How can I get over them?

If you still have ifs and maybes then you are not ready. It means you still have some hope that your life may get better. Suicide isn't something that you should compel yourself to do. The doubts you have now will pronounce even more when you are close to attempt taking your life. It's called survival instinct.

Body never wants to commit suicide, it's only the mind's desire to kill the body. This thought alone is not natural and conventionally not normal. A conscious choice to commit suicide should have a rational basis accompanied with supportive and possibly proven facts and a definitive lack of hope and a very diminished probability that the predicaments of life will go away.

Do not force yourself to die. Let all thoughts flow through your mind freely. When it is time to go, thoughts become conspicuous and you die effortlessly. *hugs*

My personal opinion. If there are ifs, you aren't ready. When you are, nothing will stop you.

What if you have to make yourself go anyway? What helps? Which drugs, which state of mind?
I have to go now but I'll never have closure, hope cannot die without closure. If you're robbed of closure what do you do?

Make peace with yourself. I know for me, that is the only closure I need. Also realize, there are some things that aren't supposed to be closed, and there is nothing one can do about it.

If we got everything we wanted in this life, we wouldn't be here waiting to CTB.

Maybe I should just shut down my brain.

If you have doubts or uncertainty, or just anything that is tying or holding you back, then I don't think (in my opinion of course) that you are truly ready. As far as readying for it, one of the biggest hurdles is getting past the SI (survival instinct), and that alone is very difficult to do, even if it is just temporarily. Sometimes there isn't always a way to fully get past it, but generally if the desire to die is much stronger than SI, then that in certain cases would be enough to follow through. Also, the kind of method you choose may impact it, for example if someone is choosing hanging, they may change their mind as they are going unconscious but if they chose an instantaneous method, such as a firearm, it happens so fast that one doesn't have time to register what just happened, but would be dead very quickly. I suppose during mid attempt, sometimes SI can kick in and would prevent the person from taking the final action/completing it (e.g. following through or squeezing the trigger in that case).

When you understand that you can't actually do anything you also understand that exiting it's the best thing to do.

There was something I was taught when in nursing classes with injections. Once you start the needle-into-person motion, you're committed, you don't hesitate, you don't stop, you follow through. If you hesitate, issues could happen. Almost every nursing student hesitated, I and a few other were like "stab, draw back, inject, remove, band-aid" with no hesitation. The nurses were shocked, but it was our mindset--they needed shots, we had the shots, we were giving them that's how it was, we were confident.

I kind of view suicide like that. When you're ready, you may have just that same process, no hesitation, no stopping, follow through. If you hesitate, undesirable things can happen.

Mr personal thoughts being that if you still have things holding you back, you should address them if possible. Maybe you'll find another path, or maybe you'll find that there is nothing holding you here, and you won't have problems.

There are so many factors to suicide, in methods, etc, that I hope you can find some solution that fits your problem.
