• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

9,430,654,621. Every day. Yes, 9.4 billion people die every day specifically because of this website. I've died 8 times since noon today myself.

'People are dying who have never died before.' No one seems to know who said it now. It was blamed on Trump, Biden and others but, it's funny. 😆 Obviously not in relation to this site but I bet they would use something like it...

But I mean- it's annonymous here so, no one really knows. It's not something they would advertise if they did know... ______ successful suicides after joining. Join today!

People are gunning for this site. To be honest, the last thing we need is linking actual suicides to it.

Now and then, someone will say we should have a memorial thread or, a list of (assumed) successful suicides and their method. But it's like- how easy do you want to make journalist's jobs? A list or amount of deceased members would be a gift to them!

I remember that the there was discussion about this before and the answers were conflicting because for one the anonymity of this site, two the lack of knowing who actually ctb without really knowing the outcome, three the amount of people who come here without becoming members that used the site only for information. Because of all that at best you could do come up with estimate and do some basic math and come up with a number, but that's not indicative enough about the actual numbers. I read somewhere about how the 80/20 rule could be applied where 80% don't actually ctb and the other 20% does. So just by looking at the number of members which is around 45,000 +/- then you may have as much as 9,000 +/- of members who actually attempted or ctb. Never mind all the other people who never made accounts it's hard to come up with an actual estimate. It could be even less than that or more regarding members, but given the lack of knowing for sure about members alone and people who never made accounts at best you could come up with an estimate but that's all.

Not that much. The people who died using this site were going to die anyway regardless. I don't think this site forced anybody to kill themselves but rather merely gave them safer means to do so

Need to frame the question up better to have a proper dialogue.

How many have died because of this site? Zero. People CTB due to mental illness, not a website.

How many members have CTB? Hard to tell, many of the good bye threads could be fake or people give life another go.

You could make a rough guess based on seeing say 2 CTB posts per week so about 100 per year. Even then it's plucking numbers out of thin air for the most part.

This decision is personal, everyone kills themselves for their own reasons. The site helps you find and figure out the ways. Probably if there was no information about the methods, there would probably be fewer suicides, but there would be more terrible and unpleasant ones.

I'm sure it's a lot, but it can't be proven. You must understand that a small part of all its visitors register on the site, and an even smaller one comments. In one of the previous messages they talked about 100 per year. I think this number needs to be multiplied by at least 10.
