I've not had a legit job since 2017. My physical and mental health keeps me out of it. Still can't get SSI which seems completely impossible.

I've been completely isolated for the better part of 8 years now. Just contact with my family. 8 years ago was when I had to leave school and I only have about a month combined of working at jobs since then.

How many of you go to school or have a job? Or are you unemployed/not in school/on disability?

I'm on disability, but I do plan on going back to college this time for my bachelor's either in the fall or spring of 2022. I don't plan on working though until after college

I have a job. Not a great one though. I have a phd, had a great job, destroyed my life, have severe bipolar and now work as a labourer. But I work everyday for about 12 hours. Tried to get disability, but it didn't work.

I do have an office job were no college education is needed and that's not too difficult (and just a little stressful sometimes).
I consider myself lucky to have found something I actually can do without feeling too pressured or overwhelmed.
Otherwise I'd definitely be on disability.

High pressure, incredibly demanding, high stress job requiring a professional degree. Definite contributing factor to the deterioration in my already questionable (understatement) mental health. Many regrets...

45 hours 6 days a week in retail. I have a degree but it never helped me at all. The only places that have every hired me are the places that would hire anyone. I work my butt off, do all kinds of unpaid work, and generally bend over backwards for everything and I get nothing. I dont even get benefits working more than full time at my current job while my boss complains about getting a Versace jacket for xmas when she likes Gucci

I used to work in a small business, they paid me well, one day I just didn't have enough energy to get up, and from there I started to miss until they fired me

Oh wow thanks for that. Seems I'm basically exactly like the majority of people on this forum. Seems there's a certain "life formula" for people that end up here.

I had my first nervous breakdown finishing university. It spawned into a spiritual quest that has left me high and dry on the surface of external things. I'm luckily on SSI but it was no easy task receiving the benefits. It takes serious work that I would have not been able to do without a family doctor and my mother. I have not worked since 2014 ish. I wish it was easier for people with sincere mental disability to receive aid. Although it is not much, I am beyond thankful it is something to help and release the burden from my family.

Barely.

I work one day a week for 3 hrs. I'm on disability & working gives me money to "enjoy" myself as 600$ a month doesn't stretch far enough when you have bills & debt.

Unemployed, but I like to think I'm on a well-deserved pension/disability after having to endure a decade of school which was deleterious for my health.

I also left the school about 8 years ago and have been "away" ever since. No school, work, or training for work. It kind of feels surreal.

During studies i had few short shitty jobs. But nothing long. After finished my studies I had no job for 4 years. Now I got my first "serious" full time job at a pet and aquarium store for the lowest possible salary about 600 USD. My boss told me I got the job because I wasn't stressed during the interview. I just didn't care.

Yeah I work from home for this intense accountancy job. I'd love to hang it up and call it quits but then I couldn't pay for the booze and weed I need to make life tolerable.

Currently employed and miserable. Ironically I specialize in customer service. Eventhough I'm riddled with self harm scars and have a very depressive attitude. Either my customers really hate me or really love me. No clue, eventhough I'm leaning towards the latter. People are kinda encouraging me not to quit, even though it's about that time. Overworked and underpaid. Plus everytime promotion comes I'm offered it then its token away. Life sucks.

I have a new job, worked my second day today. I'm surprised I don't hate it. It's in a confectionary and I get to eat cake so that's good.
I was working on my bachelor's degree until my first suicide attempt, after that I didn't do nothing for a year but needed to make some money now
