Discussion How many attempts have you made?

I'm not sure what really counts as a proper attempt so I'm not sure if I've had any. I did try to hang myself when I was like 12 but I didn't tie to knot on the rope properly at all so it slipped down really fast and didn't work.

Then when I was about 14 I would set it up for me to die and just sit there and push into the rope till my vision would go blurry, planning to do it "any day now" till it got old and I backed out. Then set it up again at 17 and intended very much to go through with it and tested a little it would work, but got hit with bad survival instinct and guilt over my mothers reaction so I told someone and it resulted in an ambulance being called.

I have the date planned for next time however and this time I really mean it no backing out.

I am embarrassed to say that any so-called attempt that I made was half-assed because either I didn't follow through or had no idea what I was doing, so I will say zero.

The pain was there but so was the survival instinct.

Two impulsive ones and one fully planned (it involved jumping off a bridge but I couldn't climb over the rails as my legs felt like lead due to SI).

At least five times I've tried jumping from shared balconies, that's it. The next one will be fatal. Let it be so.

how high up were those balconies? and do you remember what you were thinking while jumping from them?

All I can say about me is that I've made over 10 attempts and I've been to the hospital over 10 times for attempts .
I've been in psych wards 7 times and I doubt it will ever stop.

I think over 9 attempts I've tried on my own life? Maybe 12 if we count the times I had been pulled off a bridge. (Only one accessible was quite popular and it was cars only, even late at night)

idk if I would call them attempts, I chickened out before I even got any real signs that I was about to loose conciousness

it wasn't even painful either, I just got scared because I was getting light headed and thought I wasn't ready yet


I really want to do it but SI kicking my ass, It would have to be fsh for it to work I'm too much of a chicken for partial

Only a few over the span of a decade. Failed ODs (not enough pills or the combinations just weren't fatal at all), failed attempt at throat-slitting, failed attempt at bleeding out because I heal too fast, failed attempt at running through traffic. And yet my biggest goal was death by train but the more I think about the logistics of it and other's survivals, it just isn't viable anymore. Just a fantasy. Have only been to the psych ward two times. I haven't had an attempt recently because I don't want another "Attempt" I just want it to be final. Need to make it count.

Zero. I guess it is because I am too analytic, so when I am planning something important, it has to be perfect.
Had some plans before, but each time someone noticed my attitude change and started to care.
Well, now I am old enough to know if I really want to no matter what. My chosen gun (I won't use one of my already owned since I do not one single one of them seized by police as evidence) should arrive next week.

around 10, tho i don't know if I can consider them real attempts since only few have actually lead to needing to be hospitalized, and even then it didn't end up life threatening. ironically the closest i could say i ever got to dying was actually when i wasn't trying to kill myself

0, i had one terrible overdose and i was doing it not caring if i die, but i don't really count it as an attempt. the goal was to feel numb by any means.
