Do we have something in common in our outer appearance? Maye something that differentiates us from the average person? Would we notice each other if ten of us shared an elevator together? Lol.

Possible answers. On average more weight. Many on here are on medication with side effects.
On average less hygiene. Many people lack energy when they are depressed and many on here don't leave their room very often.
Clothing that does not cost much. Many on here struggle financially.
Maybe the strongest factor our age. I think many on here are in the age range 21-30. Me too.

However, I suspect there is not a strong correlation on many factors. When you look at the pictures of people who committed suicide and visited the forum most of them look totally normal. Nothing makes them suspicious they were on here. And on many pictures they even smile.

For me personally, I think you see in my eyes that I went through a lot. And that there is a strong pain since many, many years. Compared to my friends I also have more grey hair. More gray hair than normal for my age range.

Edit: Maybe more often self-harm scars.

thats an interesting thread, wonder how it will evolve.

weird that you mentioned white hairs, my hair is black but theres a few single hairs which turned white (started somewhere in highschool i guess), enough for people to notice. ive seen only one other person who also went through this in my life, didnt know him well, but now i wonder if we had something in common.
a few gusses is that its related to the fact that i stayed inside my room my entire youth (lack of exposure to sun?), or that i overly stressed myself and still do with running past events in my mind endless times?, maybe its just genetics. dont know

I don't think there is such an average person in terms of looks... but there might be common behaviors or the way we carry ourselves. I feel certain that the way I carry myself now when I have to go out, I am keeping my head down, shoulders often slumping, trying to be small and as unnoticed as possible.

Looking at the broad range of experiences here, I figure the only common uniting factor would be scars from self-harm or previous attempts.

This reminds me of those pictures that combine pictures of faces into one image to make the most average face. 1768011957411

❌ i don't even weigh enough to donate blood despite having a universal blood-type
✅ i wish my hygiene were better
✅ i just don't want to buy anything new since i intend to die. my clothes are kind of cheap & ratty. sometimes i dress-up, but not often.
✅ twenty-eight years old
❌ i wish more people took my height into consideration. i look & sound like a child IRL & i honestly think that's from neglect.
✅ starting to grey just a little, 2025 was tough. i think it's going to look funny if live long enough it starts getting really grey & i still look this young.
❌ i've self-harmed just a little bit in the past but i was pretty pussy about it & also did it in perfectly-hidden areas. the scars are healed. i'm not sure if even an autopsy would catch them. i may add new scars in an attempt though, in the past it was just stress-relief that didn't really help or work or do anything but now it's gonna be for pure practicality.

✅ Maybe 20 pounds more than I should be
❌ I still care about my hygiene
❌ I have work clothes, nice everyday clothes and a couple suits. I still do construction and steel fabrication. I like to look decent in public, comes with the age. Suits are necessary for weddings, funerals, and meetings.
❌ If I went to 45 years and then turned around I'd still make it to my twenties
❌ Very little grey hair except my beard.
✅ I have a lot of scars from a life lived hard, just a few from attempts and self harm.
Are we going to see some red and blue dye in your hair? 😍

I doubt you can always tell. There are those suicide prevention videos with a bunch of different looking people who suicided. Not all of them looked to be obviously struggling.

I wonder how many of us 'people watch' too. I generally don't look too closely at people unless I'm talking to them and there's cause to.

There again, when you do sometimes get news stories, it's tempting to think you can see the sadness in their eyes. I think there's often just an extreme tiredness to suicidal people.

I feel like everyone I've met here is highly empathetic at the very least. As for looks, I dont think you can easily see it in someone's eyes as much as in someone's actions. Its easy to tell when someone is ready to ctb i feel

I'm going on 35. Average height and appearanance, below average weight. Head full of hair that has very little grey. Never self-harmed in a way that would leave scars, only ever through blunt force trauma.

I dress well for work and general public appearance. Good overall hygiene. Good interpersonal skills and generally positive outward demeanor.

I became adept at masking as a child, having to hide my discomfort, distress, and sensory overload as a result of negative support in any of those arenas.

If I ever do finally commit to CTB, it'll definitely come as a shock to those in my life.

Largely, my point being you cannot tell from outward appearance what people are going through internally. There may be more obvious signs in some.
