Help How do I test N?

Let's just assume I got my hands on some substance that could or could not be N.

How can I test that?
Is there a way to check it like the Aquarium/Blood test for SN?

Or do I just torpedo 10 grams of it down with the meto 40 Minutes beforehand and hope for the best?

First, try to find a kit that will test for barbiturates to have an indication that is a barbiturate in the first place; please note this will only return a qualitative result, meaning it will only tell you if it's a barbiturate or not. Next step would be a quantitative test which will show you the purity and can only be performed at a lab. In the past, people have used Energy Control in Spain. If the qualitative test returns positive for barbiturates, you could measure and try 200mg dissolved in water and pay close attention to its effects, particulary:
a.) if it dissolve w/o big particles (even if the solution remain cloudy, warming up the water a bit should help with dissolving) or if it stay more like a suspension with large particles in it: if the former it's most likely a sodium salt, if the latter, it's probably a free acid form.
b.) the onset of action; this is subjective of course but it will at least give you an indication about whether it's a fast (short)-acting barbiturate or a slow (long)-acting one. If it's a short-acting barbiturate, at 200mg you should definitely feel it in 10-15 minutes, depending on how empty your stomach is. If you do such a test, don't use other CNS depressants for better results as they will interfere.
