Discussion How did you choose your method?

I still haven't chosen my method as of yet, but my criteria are the following:

• Peaceful
• Affordable
• Non-violent
• Efficient
• Fast (takes no more than an hour to cause brain death).
• I can purchase everything legally.

But finding such a method would be too good to be true.

I'm probably going to go with hanging because it's easily accessible and supposed to pass out pretty quickly if done right. But no method is perfect.

Hearing about other people hanging. I've known many people who have gone out this way and it stuck in my mind. I also want to die in a forest which suits this method, not to mention all you need is a rope and drugs to kill the pain and I have access to both

I'm going to experiment with partial hanging, since it is available to me, cheap, relatively painless it seems and always worth a try ofcourse!

I collect methods apparently, after my failed detergent ctb in August and failed partial in December. I have immediate access to sn & gun & hanging.... am leaning towards CO possibly with a partner now. I'm only missing N which I can buy but am wary. How did I choose any of these methods? It's because it's what is accessible I guess. And why am I still here. Survival instinct right now.

I went with firearm since I'm an US citizen with a clean record and meet the criteria to legally possess a firearm. More specifically, the gun is accessible to me, very reliable, and also painless (if done right).

I went with SA because I could get everything legally, death within an hour, no antidote to speak of, faster than SN, smaller dose needed, and I didn't really care for the other methods due to whatever reason.

I originally arrived at hanging after reading about its effectiveness–second only to firearms but with less cost, violence, and mess.

I practiced partial until I got the technique dialed in and, oddly, became sort of attached to the process.

Sometimes I'll daydream about the trial where I almost ctb accidentally because of rapid loss of consciousness. Sometimes the image or feeling of the noose tightening appears in my mind like a soft, warm blanket.

"Not just yet," I think in response... "not just yet."

I got a few methods up my sleeve, SN 'cause it's cheap and it's worked for people, I also have a charcoal grill laying around in my garage but no tent, I also have a bathtub but not enough alcohol and benzos to pass out and drown. I think my preferred method right now is just waiting to death, it's certain but the agony and time it takes to kill you is very uncertain.

I have a couple methods sitting around now. Nitrogen tank, and SN as well. I guess for me I want it to be effective, not violent, relatively easy to carry out. I really don't want to fail though and both of these aren't instant enough for me. I want it to be like almost instant death.

It appeals to me because you are essentially creating a controlled environment and limiting dangerous variables down to the minimum you can possibly achieve. It won't be overly messy. None of it is illegal to have or prohibitively expensive. Explanations for why you would buy it are easy. Death via Hypoxia is well documented and is likely peaceful. The nature of the gas means I should not suffocate. I also like the notion that I won't be conscious too long to have to fight against my survival instincts. My only problem with this method is going to be the energy needed to create the bag and the heaviness of the canister. Getting it upstairs in my physical state is going to be one grueling hell.

Honestly, there's only three factors which matter to me:
1. Reliable
2. Painless
3. Quick
That's why I've settled on firearms.

Did you get 40 cubic feet then? How heavy is that? I'm wondering how heavy the 20 is. Did I read somewhere that it's 18 lbs? A healthy person can pick that up right? I'm going through the whole what the fuck is going to happen with my maintenance guy bringing that up to my door scenario again.

I originally settled on partial suspension because it can be done with easily available materials and you can be alone, and it's supposed to be mostly painless. After a few failed attempts not being able to get the right pressure, I found out about the ratchet strap method, which seemed even better because it doesn't involve finding a place to attach a ligature to - you can just do it anywhere. I managed to get through a whole year just with the peace of mind of having a ratchet strap nearby :D But then I read some things that advised against it, and after all, it's a very uncommon method, surely that must be for a reason. So I'm back to researching partial suspension for the moment.

For me, inert gas and High level CO might be the most comfortable. Oxygen replacement hypoxia causes the least amount stress on the body and least amount physical side effects. Of course they are probably the methods you most have to research and study. Unfortunately, the most reliable ways are also the most physically violent and the most psychologically distressing.

Although it seems incredibly painful and I heard you end up forcing yourself to breath until you can't anymore. It seems like it doesn't take much effort though. Hanging is probably my best bet.

Drowning sounds really horrible, so hanging is definitely the better choice. Drowning sounds to me like lots of effort though, wouldn't your SI kick in and you'd try everything to swim back to the surface?

Personally I chose SN as my method since it's affordable and painless. I would be afraid that I'd mess up hanging and slowly suffocate, but hanging would probably be my second choice.

I'm going with partial because it seems to be reliable and easy with practice. I wish i could afford N though cause then i'd deff go with that for sure, and i'm not too familiar with SN either. So yeah, partial it is :)

Well, its difficult to explain.
I was in psych ward once, reflecting on all the non violent methods Ive tried (various ODs, and recently wrist slitting) and how they proved ineffective. And I remember this thought going through my mind for absolutely no reason:
'You need to jump off a bridge. Theres a bridge on the way to your english class. Do it'.
And so I proceeded to get up, go to the nurse station and tell them when Im out Im gonna jump off a bridge.
And when I was released I went to this bridge. Gazed at it, and at the water. For a very long time. And since then, I knew it is how my death is supposed to be like.
Over time, I developed more reasons to stick to this method. My morbid obssession with deep water back from the times when my dad punished me by holding my head down in the river and drowning me when I was a little kid.
The violence of it, the idea of breaking my limbs, my spine, almost like I didnt deserve a peaceful suicide, like I needed to be hurt.
And here I am, wasting my disability paychecks travelling to some sketchy little towns on the country border just to give myself a go trying to jump off tallest bridges in the country. I literally made a short movie clip on my phone of me dangling my legs off a 30 something meter bridge, this is the first day that Im home after the journey.
This is so weird, I know.
