my first time was when i was 16 years old, it didn't last long but it was a scary feeling. i remember seeing a black shadow figure on my right, it suddenly rushed over to me. it was something i never felt before, it's like a big rush of wind, but in a scary way. i remember seeings scary, disturbing images and faces. i knew i was having a sleep paralysis and try to wake myself up and try to move my arms. i would think that i was awake and that it was over but, i was still there, it went on like a loop. i kept on trying to move my arms and body a bit and singing a song to calm me down and try to wake myself up. i did eventually wake up and try to process what happen.

That sounds so scary. Does this happen to you often? Thankfully I've never experienced it, nightmares are bad enough

Once was enough for me, even though I really like strange dream states.

Every time I restrict either the contraction of the diaphragm or the blood flow while being asleep.
Though, my experience is rather... unusual, I presume, for there is no one in my dreams (or similar conditions) who could battle me in my undead form for more than a few seconds. All of my "nightmares" are always reversed; only the vessel that contains me is able to be my opponent.

I had this briefly a few months ago. I had always read about it but never experienced it. No scary figures or whatever, but I was conscious for a few moments yet unable to move my body.

Twice. Both times it was absolutely terrifying. I was scared out of my mind. I couldn't move and I couldn't scream for help like I was trying to.

Both times it felt kind of scary at first, there were some dark figures flying around which really put me off, couldnt move and felt like i couldnt breathe either

However luckily i remembered reading about it before so i knew what it was :') i managed to close my eyes and fell back asleep again

i don't know if it was a sleep paralysis or something else but it was hella scary, it happened on my comedown after doing pills, it also kept happening for few nights in the row, but that one night it felt so real that i woke up and started sobbing so basically what happened is i was trying to fall asleep like i wasn't fully awake but i wasn't sleeping either, the next thing i know there was a demonic like creature small in size sitting on the side of the bed by my legs, all of a sudden it grabs my legs and started throwing my violently around the room for about 15 secs i tried to scream but knew no one could hear me and that i didn't make any sound, at the end of it it's like that thing threw me back to my body and i instantly woke up, so yh that's what happened and the other nights it wasn't as intense but all these events were similar AF

Twice in my childhood. Terrifying experiences. Waking up unable to scream or move your body, knowing there's something evil by the door, lurking.

I had similar experiences some years ago. I thought I was going crazy or, in a moment of superstition, that I was haunted by a demon. Then I read up on it and it turned out that this actually is quite common. So, it's definitely scary, but there's no need to worry about it.

All the time, the more stressed I get the more frequent it is. And it always ties into ptsd flashbacks

I started when I was really young and I still get it pretty frequently. It's fairly random and isn't always consistent but when I first started getting it I was scared shitless. For me it's an eerie feeling of something else in the room accompanied by a sense of impending doom. It's not always intense but I've had a few episodes that have made going back to sleep scary. I find sometimes if you try to sleep right after it happens that it's pretty easy to slip back into it so if it's ever bad I'll try to wake up a bit before returning to sleep. I've read that it has to do with a chemical imbalance of some sort that happens in your brain before you go to sleep so in recent times I've wondered if the imbalance that causes depression has some sort of connection to it at all but idk.

Yes, black shadowy demon sat on my chest, couldn't move at all... mine was not small though and it had weird red lights inside the blackness formed as it Talked about how it would put me to the test, send all sorts of horrible things my way, and finally left after I was able to pray and ask Christ to intervene.

Scary evil creature straight from hell.

Several years ago, when my freaky illness started, I tried to hang myself. Spent all day trying to go through with it and finally went for it. And failed. I went to bed with a throbbing head and trouble swallowing. Took some zopiclone and slept.
I woke up in the morning paralysed. I lay there for a couple of minutes unable to move anything but my eyes. I actually felt my whole body was wrapped in huge burning silver chains.
Obviously a psych reaction to my attempt and bloody terrifying.

I love sleeping on my back, if only the place I'm living at had clean enough air so I could do so.

I not had that happen but what has happened to me was i had a nightmare when I was wide awake. What happened was i had not slept for four days straight and on the fourth day i started to have these wired wakeing dreams. Then the nightmares kicked i started to scream and shout at things that weren't they scared the hell out of the people around me . Then i collapse on the floor and had sum sort of fit was rushed into hospital were i spent a hole week a sleep. And three more months recovering from the mental breakdown i had to was i bad shape for a long time after that to be honest I never really recovered from it.

I've had a few experiences when young the most prominent one was me being stuck in bed facing up and a lady that looked like samara morgan but adult and much much taller, my memory is foggy but i remember her bending over unnaturally towards me and her face being within inches of me (honestly explains some of my kinks in retrospect). I've also had other weird maybe not so paralysis visions while sleeping when younger and more recent but their kinda hard to explain.

Best way to get out of it is to move one muscle at a time and focus until you unlock the rest of your body. First time I had it, I didn't want to sleep for days. Second time should have been terrifying, but I was ready and asked the attacker who it was and that got me out of it.
