Venting happy birthday to me

only one of my irl friends has wished me a happy birthday today. these are very close friends that i've known for years and are very aware my birthday is on the 23rd. yet i've only received one message. it feels silly to feel upset over such a small thing but when a friend tells another to enjoy their birthday thats on the 31st, yet forgets mine was today just hurts like a bitch. just drinking some wine and smoking to have all of it impact me less. ik it's something reasonable to feel a bit upset over but i feel as though im overreacting. im pissed i care so much about them yet they clearly cant even remember my own birthday.

Happy birthday! I really hopr you find better friends soon, and if you ever need someone to talk to feel free to hop in my messages. I can't imagine how hard it is to feel forgotten by your friends but you have a community ready to support you regardless. I hope that next year's birthday involves more celebration and much less sadness for you <3

Happy birthday! I do know what you mean- if that helps... Ironically, I wouldn't even say I like or care about my birthday but it can weirdly still hurt if nearly everyone forgets it- most especially if you make the effort to remember theirs. I guess it's loneliness maybe.

People can certainly be disappointing after all, and it's just the way that they are unfortunately. It's best to not expect much out of others as having high expectations will just lead to more suffering when you get inevitably let down by other people. But it's understandable as to why you would be frustrated at the way that those people acted, it's sad how other people can potentially just make us feel worse with what they do.
