  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I have a 12mm polyester rope. Will this be good for full suspension hanging. I plan on using a noose knot but I'm not sure about my anchor knot. Most of the knots suggested on here are more suited to partial hanging does anyone have any suggests that would be appropriate for full hanging?

Curious as well. Is there a way to full suspend without crushing trachea using said knots.

That rope sounds fine. Check its specifications for its load-bearing capacity, but if it's a polyester braided rope, it should be fine.

The anchor knot is the easy part. The only criterion is that it has to hold. An Anchor Hitch (Anchor Bend) with an extra half hitch, or a Round Turn & Two Half Hitches with an added extra half hitch, is fine in most situations, I think. Except if you want to tie a rope to a vertical pole with a smooth surface. Then, something else is needed.

When the knot full tightens itself as your weight is applied, it will compress everything anatomically. You can look for autopsy photos that show the deep marks created by the rope.

The anchor point is the vertical rail of a stairway

Concerning rope, noose knot and anchor knot there is absolut no difference between full and partial hanging.

I thought you might need a more sturdier knot for full suspension as it has to bear more weight.

The minimum requirement on all kind of knots is that they don´t loosen by itself.

Videos of partial hanging show, that the person once unconscious often lift their feet off the ground and swings around.
