Gunshot is indeed one of the worst methods for suicidal gesture. If one really only wants to get attention, they could always just slit their artery vertically (not horizontally as that's more likely to actually cause death). You'll most likely survive and wake up in a hospital.

Through the mouth in the direction of the brainstem ! Look at the diagrams in the Guns Megathread. The bullet will destroy your brainstem before you even have time to hear the noise of the shot or feel any pain! Practise beforehand, using a mirror to work out the angle of gun to get the trajectory of the bullet right ! Please do not make any attempt like that without reading all about the method here on SS and a lot of practice ! If you get this wrong, survival will be horrible and painful !

I think you are right. I've started to read more about it, and the consensus seems to be about puttin the gun in your mouth, and I didn't look enough at the graphic. I thought it was good based on the orientation of the barrel, not toward your face but the brain.

I am very suprised that if you know the type of weapon you have, you would eveb ask this question. It concerns me that you may be using someone elses weapon. Consider the gun owner, how they would feel, and also consider who would find you. You likely dont want to leave this world and have a lot of guilt and trauma left for those that are survived by you. Sorry but VERY BIG disagreement here ! Yes I agree we should not encourage anyone to ctb, but do you want to leave a person's questions unanswered and risk them getting very much physically/psychologically hurt in the process of an unsuccessful attempt? Or do you want ot support them with qualified answers and scientific information? In the end every ctb is YOUR choice but it might be better if you got it right IF you really want to do it, rather than use some half-truth and fail, and be more miserable or even handicapped afterwards ?

Through the mouth pointing slightly upwards. There is less bone to get through, the bullet will hit your brainstem without any bone to dig through, you'll be switched off instantaneously.....just look at the pics to get angle right, and close your mouth around the gun barrell to prevent flinching !
