  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Looks comfy enough. Can we discuss the self-mummification method in this thread?

LOL. I heard if you look like Chris Hemsworth and you decide to hunt a white whale you can get the same result only your stuck in a boat and I guess you have to eat your own friends or something. Spider-Man is there so it seems like a legit method. I'm so sorry I couldn't resist. I really like this thread. Not trying to offend anyone. I'll send myself to the corner now. ❤ In the Heart of the Sea 2

Dehydration is very unpleasant, would not recommend. Got really sick once a few years ago and was constantly throwing up to the point where I couldn't hold down any water. It was not an experience I would recommend.

There are moments of such despair that it doesn't matter how much you have to endure and endure, if in the end you can free yourself from fear and pain forever. In this sense, I really understand Noa Pathoven, who deliberately stopped eating and drinking.
It's not scary to die, it's scary to live. And nothing is impossible if there is a goal.

If longevity is the course for you, might as well drink antifreeze, and wait 3 weeks to die and hope the nurses are nice enough to give you morphine.
i once was in the hospital for a heart beating out of rhythm and the Filipino nurse made it clear she wanted to have sex. but me heart was all messed up,and i was scared! they zapped my heart back to normal the next morning. i wish something had happened but whatever!

In my country assisted suicide is legal. Sadly hospital staff uses only dehydration or starvation as a means to do it even they could give morfine or Nembutal to be taken by patient at their will. It's done to people who are close to dieing and they are given their daily meds.
It can be peaceful or not. If the patient is given high doses of morfin or other opiates and meds to keep them in sleep I think it could be peacefull.

I was once very sick before my surgery but I cannot stand IV needle in my hand so I stayed home. I couldn't eat and drinking was hard too. My life was only suffering so I wasn't worried about the consequences. Surgeons and specialists argued years whether to do risky surgery (risk of dieing) to me or not. It had only been done once before. Before the operation the surgeon called me in the evening to talk about it and I told him it's fine if I die in surgery and that I would die slowly anyways. I told him not to feel bad about it if it happens from heart failure etc. or accident. I promised not to haunt him and we laughed.

I started to fall asleep and waking up 2-3 days later. I did usually wake up for few seconds in between and opened my eyes but was so tired that I fell back to sleep right away. I felt little euphoric and very peaceful when waking up and falling back to sleep. I was too tired to take my meds I was supposed to take daily.
I didn't have any cooling system in my house so in summer I usually woke up soaked in sweat.

When I woke up I felt withdrawal symptoms from lack of opiates and had some muscle spams and faster heart beat. I had taken daily opiates and other nervous system drugs like the ones used for epilepsy, Propral (to lower blood pressure and heart beat) plus other meds daily.
I felt same also in other times when I tried to stop taking opiates I had taken daily for years except the absolute exhaustion.

Otherwise I didn't get any negative symptoms though I was very weak. When I woke up I drank juice, sips of strong salt water and took my meds and vitamins. When I took a shower I laid on the floor after it with my asthma inhaler (I don't have asthma) for about 30min to over an hour trying to get strenght to get up and walk 3 meters to bed. My heart beated faster from any moving and I felt dizzy.

I think that for very sick people that could be peacefull if they were given or took their vital meds like opiates and meds for heart, blood pressure etc. and were in sleep during the dieing process.

But I think that since assisting suicide is legal in my country people should be given choice how to die. I think that strong opiates and Nembutal are more peacefull/certain and that many people would rather have them. Some people (for example religious people) would maybe choose to die to dehydration in sleep without any pain.
Hospitals head doctors in my country have told press how dieing people whose pain is excruciating, unmanageable by meds and constant can be put to medical coma during their dieing process and can eventually die while in coma. Due to costs that never happens but Fentanyl and Nembutal are very cheap for hospitals.

Well, judging from the comments, this is a very, VERY bad idea. What a shame.
