Is 'My Hero Academia' any good? I'm at Barnes and Noble and I am about to buy my first manga.

If you are interested in Shonen manga/anime (Dragon Ball, One Piece, etc.), and/or you would like a manga about superheroes, then yes, it's pretty good

Not sure, sorry. It depends of what you may like (comedy, romance, thriller...) and of what they may sell there. And I haven't read manga lately tbh, I'm not sure what's popular right now.

While not super mainstream, I really like Magi: Labyrinth of Magic. The final arc is a bit of a mess, but it's pretty good overall and is still one of my favourite manga series.

Shonen/spin-off

The Lost Canvas (Saint Seiya) and its Gaidens. I really liked Shiori Teshirogi's work.

Thank you for your help. I'll have to order these, the bookstore does not have them.
Any anime suggestions? I'm new to the medium but really liked Paranoia Agent and Tokyo Godfathers.

if you liked those two, then you could try the other satoshi kon movies (perfect blue, paprika, millennium actress). other than that, not mainstream but sonny boy gave me a similar feel

Mainstream manga I like are Drgaonball, One Piece, Bleach Naruto, HxH.

Slightly Lesser known manga I love are Kingdom, Hajime No Ippo, Soul Eater,Haikyuu Jojo, most parts

Recent anime I love are Frieren, Apothecary Diaries, Konosuba, Mob Pyscho. Kaguya sama. I think most of these are good starter anime if you are new
