I feel that this is unimportant. If people went to say something they can, some that say something succeed and some don't. Some that say nothing also succeed and some don't. We've had members here announce their death and succeed after failures. This has nothing to do with it.

An understandable thing to say is that when somebody says goodbye numerous times it becomes harder to know what to expect and its not wrong to say you may expect them back but there's no need for the attacks and sly digs people have started throwing around. Does it do any good? No.

If you're absolutely of the belief people are doing it for attention with no intention then even so.. Ever since I was a child I realised that if somebody is attention seeking then THERE IS A REASON. Attention seeking is natural and reasonable, people who do it to a large degree are usually suffering for some reason or another. If you don't like it just ignore those people and keep this place loving please.

you understood me wrong and right at the same time. Its a complicating thing really. She mentioned that maybe its better to not announce her death...and If you really want to die it is best not to. Announcing your death on a forum full of strangers means that you seek more in life than to end the pain, seeking affirmation from complete strangers is a factor in your staying alive. You obviously haven't fully explored all avenues in your recovery, if announcing your death makes you feel better or satisfied, than maybe you should seek therapy?

When I commit suicide there wont be a single one of you that will know about it. Because I dont give a shit.

It doesn't matter if Miss clefable wants to announce it or not. For those insinuating that it's attention seeking and boy-who-cried-wolfy, just quit it. It doesn't make you more hardcore or serious if you decide not to say goodbye. Plenty of people do, plenty of people don't. If people have to try multiple times, so be it. If they want to say goodbye each time, that's fine too. Granted, I would like for folks to have a more comfortable/foolproof method if this is what they have truly decided on, but ultimately this is a very individual thing.

Hope you are feeling better miss.

I feel that the ones that actually end up going through with it dont actually talk. They just do it.
You might be right. In which case the argument that this kind of forum encourages suicide can be disregarded to a large extent. But my opinion is that the process leading up to an attempt to end your life if you are serious can be different for different people. Many people suffer from profound isolation in this category and i think it's a human conscious desire to have some communication, in the same way the human unconscious body doesn't want to die.

That's true. A lot of people here still have a bit of hope in them left.

Thatd good for you but people are unique, I don't think you can make a statement on somebody's mental state from something as loyylr as a goodbye post. I also don't believe in "jinxing or tempting fate" if you were suggesting that at all.

I think those that aren't ready to die usually don't need reminding it because deep down they already know. This forum serves as hard evidence that its different for everyone and your sweeping statement is hard to prove or disprove either way, just a theory.

Personally I'm top focussed on my own shit life to get upset over other people needing a bit more comfort than others or being unclear about their intentions. There's just no way to know what somebody is going through or what is truly going through their mind and assumptions here of all places just make it more depressing than needed.

Im being a bit of an armchair psychologist, but im not being malicious. She mentioned maybe its better not to say goodbye and I explained why people who die usually dont. Im not encouraging her to die at all, if anything I believe some therapy is good for people who feel satisfaction from attention. Most of us dont feel at all.
