MY suicidality has never had anything to do with my gender, as I perceive it, although the rate of homelessness and succesful suicide attempts among men compared with women is interesting.

I think biology, compounded by the Cultural Hegemony of "the Left", make men less appealing to be receptacles of pity and good disposition, so it's probably a bit easier to end up alone or dispossed if you're a man.

Obviously, in this trade off men get rid of rape, sexual harassment, trafficking, pregnancy and such. All in all it seems like we are in a worse position nowadays but I feel like personal circumstances matter much more in how one becomes despondent or suicidal.

You've pretty much used the suicide stats as an argument that women have it easier than men yourself (in a way not dissimilar to the op) in a post which was seemingly deleted but is still embedded as a quote in the below link. To quote:

"It's very easy to see that the idea that women in the developed world have a harder time than men is just a useful illusion to rally a large group of people against another politically. Statistics show, rather, than being a man is harder in the 1st world. For the majority of human existence women have been objects/ property of men. That is a fact! I refuse to indulge any fool who ignores history because things are changing. I think we probably all look around and reckon the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. I'm guessing you feel particularly wronged by the female gender and I'm sorry for that.

As far as suicide statistics go- I believe women actually statistically attempt more often than men according to a BBC report:

'Women also are even more likely than men to attempt suicide. In the US for example, adult women in the US reported a suicide attempt 1.2 times as often as men. But male suicide methods are often more violent, making them more likely to be completed before anyone can intervene.'

Of course- you could argue this may be because men maybe don't admit to a failed attempt. Guess that's possible. Still- if more women are attempting suicide than men, that suggests they're just as unhappy.

Honestly though, I wish we could just all agree that we all have it shit- to varying degrees... We're all on a pro-choice- but let's face it- a pro- 'get me the fuck out of here' website.

While anyone's pain is legitimate and ought to be recognised, also bear in mind that the suicidal women on here likely didn't personally go out their way to ruin your life. No one likes to hear they have it easy- when they're struggling themselves.
