forgotten method ? , inhaling gas (Carbon monoxide) which is supplied to houses

anyone have any views on house gas (or whatever you call it) which is fed to boilers and fire places, its known to be the silent killer however there isn't much on this. rather than buying pure helium or charcoal. i don't see why not a gas pipe is connected to a scuba diving mask and should be out of it within minutes. so in theory a gas leak should make you pass out and die within minutes if there is no fresh air entering the confined space where it is being done.

"House has" is carbon monoxide, which is what is released by charcoal. They are the same thing. I have no clue how you would even safely manage to gain access to a gas pipe without causing an explosion or other disaster and connect it to a scuba mask successfully.

"house gas" is natural gas there is 0% CO gas delivered to households through natural gas pipes. Natural gas is nothing else but methane and methane itself is not toxic at all.

But what is correct: Burning natural gas may also produce a little bit of CO gas if it is not fully burnt.

I stand corrected. Either way it would be a highly ineffective method and more likely to cause some sort of explosion and get your entire neighborhood shut down and evacuated while the gas companies come to secure everything.

i did think if turning off the gas, cut the pipe and join it to a hose pipe with duck tape and then turn gas back on and sing a song before collapsing but yeah thats a failed method

Hi, I somehow came across this site after some furious google searching over the weekend. After trying and failing other methods over the past month I came across back to the idea of carbon monoxide and decided to dig further into charcoal burning, of which there are plenty discussions on this...

It doesn't need to be toxic, it just needs to displace the oxygen in the atmosphere. Nitrogen isn't toxic.

It would work but you'd be leaving an exposed pipe pumping out a flammable gas indefinitely, It would be safer to buy a cylinder of gas so at least it runs out eventually.

My first (and only) Suicide Attempt was back in 1989 with carbon monoxide from a car. This was a 1978 gas guzzler that spewed out fumes in a manner unheard of by today's standards. I was able to achieve clinical death, but then I was brought back via CPR (hooray). In retrospect, all I has to do was run a hose from the exhaust to the window of the car. However, I was young and dumb...& not really consciously trying to kill myself (I now know that I was in the midst of autistic burnout, but didn't understand it at the time).

If you can find an old car without a (functional) catalytic converter, this might still be viable. Otherwise, I might suggest a house generator. I have one of these sitting in my garage right now as a backup plan, but it does come with a CO sensor that needs to be bypassed. Word of advice: If you just redo the wiring to bypass the sensor, Generac generators will not shut off for some reason. They just keep going until gas runs out. The on/off switch literally will not work. Found this out the hard way. Still trying to figure out a better method of bypassing. Anyhow, these kick out enough toxic fumes that it should do the job in an enclosed space...without the risk of blowing up the house.
