I often think if a 13 year old can successfully ctb from hanging why can't I do it. I'm sure they aren't on these forums or spending hours researching where their carotid artery is. Why do us adults let fear of pain or whatever get in the way. I'm not gonna lie reading these posts I think causes fear hearing all the failed attempts. I'm sure it probably hurts for less then a minute. But imo it's the fastest way to ctb. I don't understand all these SN posts. Why would you want to lay down with your heart pounding, suffering from nausea or vomiting? Hanging is the #2 method in the US. I never heard of SN till I joined this group. It's definitely not my choice. I want to go fast. I want to go soon. I need to stop over thinking and just freaking do it just like thousands of these teens do everyday.

When chemistry comes into play, you will have to trust the body that it will let go easily. With hanging, you don't have to trust the body but physics.

You can minimize your fear by having a good set up. Take your time to get the best possible rope, learn how to tie a knot correctly, and find a location where you can be undisturbed for couple of hours.

Also, right now is the time to cry, question, and think about why you should or shouldn't ctb. But on the day of your departure think of nothing just commit to the act.

I think the same.

For me, this is a more reliable method than SN.
And I think it's easier to suffer ~60 seconds of pain than ~60 years.

In hanging, your body and mind are 100% aware of what you are about to do. I think because of that, the SI threshold is physically and mentally more difficult to overcome than it would be with SN or poisons. Drinking a glass of liquid seems a bit more natural to the body than overt physical harm. That's just how I see it though...

I've been thinking about this for a while and I'm putting it down to a lack of risk awareness (we all know of kids who don't have much concept of danger until they get abit older) and also weight. A kid is bound to weigh less, which probably makes it much easier to pass out without feeling as much pain or discomfort as an adult would

I always planned to go with hanging, then I came here and found out about SN and after looking into that, I still came back to hanging. I personally believe it's a far quicker way to die. But I see what your saying about how kids can do it and succeed, and we have to research and plan meticulously. I guess as adults we have a lot more what ifs than a child would consider maybe?

I agree. All these failed attempt posts (on pretty much every method) can spook the hell out of you and make you 2nd guess everything.

I've gotten to the point where I don't know if I'm over thinking or under thinking. :notsure:

60 seconds? Is it rare for your neck to break instantly? I'd started to consider it for the first time but maybe not

I think if you found a suitable spot that can hold you weight and you won't be found, and just go full suspension, it WILL kill you. May be fast, may take a while, you may pass out straight away or you might suffer for god knows how long, but with full suspension you're pretty much going past the point of no return. There's no "getting it right" involved.

The "getting it right" for us means passing out almost immediately with no discomfort or pain, but without bringing someone back from the dead and asking what it's like, we don't know if that ever truly happens. You can find a new news article about someone successfully handing themselves every day, but we never know if they suffered or experienced everything we on this forum fear about hanging. They probably just weren't as aware as us about the ins and outs of hanging (maybe did it impulsively) and thus may not have had much fear about it until they were already hanging and then it's pretty much game over. I tried to hang but the fear was too much for me to let myself fall into full suspension, so I'll be going with SN, maybe watching a good film or headphones in, and slowly drift off

Neck breaking occurs from drop hanging. There's quite a bit of information regarding this around the forum (you need a stronger anchor point and rope obviously, and you also need a suitable amount of "drop", can't remember the exact height). Seems far more complicated than simple suspension, and survival instinct may be greater, but if you get it right I'm guessing it's instant death.
Again only going off the little bits I can remember from other posts so I could be wrong
