looks ok to me--both green and red on the regulator show that round thing that is used to attach to both--

But the flow meter looks like this. Do i attach this red one with the green one on the regulator?

sorry still confsed cause cant find info anywhere. Still trying to figure it out. And i guess people who have it would know
The oxygen regulator and flowmeter looks like this though so im confused.

Greenberg said you should use a Nitrogen regulator, not an Oxygen one----
I can only find nitrogen regulator but not nitrogen flow meter :(

theres co2, argon, and oxygen flow meter

An Argon Flowmeter is acceptable but measure it down to 12.6 LPM--Argon Flowmeter at 12.6 LPM is same as Nitrogen Flowmeter at 15LPM

Hi,my questions about regulator.

Screenshot 2022 05 20 at 223141 Screenshot 2022 05 20 at 223158

1.Where is the flowmeter here? Pic 1 or Pic 2?
In the guide @TiredHorse said about two pressure gauges: the tank pressure gauge (unimportant to us) and the flowmeter gauge.
Which one should i buy?

2.I remember from some guide that one of the pressure gauges shows how much gas is left in the cylinder. Which of these shows this information?

3.Why some people here are buying 100$+ regulators whereas there are many around 50$,is there a real difference for suicide? TiredHorse said
''You don't need to worry about being sure to choose a regulator that will reduce the pressure: they all do that. The flowmeter is the critical element of the regulator for our purposes.''

Hello. Tell me, please, are you from Russia? (I made this assumption after seeing your name)
I am from Russia and I would like to know if you have already bought nitrogen, have you been asked any questions? And what purity of gas did you buy?

I bought a 5 liters refillable helium cylinder in the EU and got it shipped by DHL. No questions were asked. Purity is 99,8% (helium 2.8).
I also bought a full face diving mask, diving regulator consisting of pressure reducer and mouthpiece and a cylinder adapter for connection to the regulator in the EU.

35cf equals approximately 1m^3. So yes, you have more than enough gas. Best, G
and does 28 CF is enough? I'm looking also for the conversion in liters and it looks ok but want to make sure

Hey hey, I'm new to the forum so I can't use the search function yet, so forgive the fact that I'm asking here when it almost certainly has been answered elsewhere before.

The N2 method seems reasonably cumbersome to set up - You need to buy a tank for like $300, regulators etc. So the upfront cost is quite high, which is one of the main downsides mentioned in the PPH.

What is very available though is N2O = Nitrous Oxide = Cream Chargers. I've also used them recreationally in the past, so I know for a fact that you can easily forget how long it's been since your last breath of air because the hypercapnic reflex doesn't trigger for a long time, if at all (And we're talking breathing in and out of the same balloon for up to a minute) - And by then, the psychedelic/anaesthetic effects are already in full force.

Here's my question - Using N2O instead, does it work?

Possible issues I can foresee and possible workarounds:
- Small cylinders with ~2-6l of gas volume + no flow regulator => Impossible to rig up a steady flow of gas. All gas must be pre-loaded into the exit bag. A possible workaround might be to load 3-4 capsules into a whipped cream dispenser that you can rig one of those screw-adjustable clamps around, to make it press the trigger really really gently and let out a light stream of gas. The flow will not be linear.
- Air tight seal around the neck required. I assume any sort of elastic will do, though.
- Possible hypercapnic reflex after a while. My hope would be that the anaesthetic effects of N2O would prevent this. Can anyone confirm this? Other than that, hyperventilation + empty lungs when starting should minimise the effect.

Other than that, this seems like an incredibly cheap (<30 bucks), convenient (minimal effort, everything can be ordered on amazon) and mobile (don't have to carry a tank around) alternative to N2.

Am I missing something? Is the chance of success drastically reduced due to the lack of positive pressure/exhaust of CO2?

Hello I'm new here. I've been considering Argon for the last year or so because I can easily order a full 40 cu ft tank and have it shipped to my home. I read the Wikipedia page on exit bags and noticed a new section that gives me second thoughts.

From the first paragraph of the "mechanism" section it says argon won't work because it's heavier than air and won't fill the bag from the top down, leaking out the bottom instead. The sources, however, are poor. One is just a link to the dangers of gas and material safety data sheets. The other returns a 404 error.

I read the talk page for clarification and it has two more sources. One is about a failed attempt which lasted over an hour with condensation in the bag. The other is about running out of argon because a mask was used.

Although I'm fairly sure this section is poorly sourced and should be removed from the article, it still makes me hesitant because I've never though about argon being heavier than air and I've never read about any successful attempts.

I'm curious if anyone here has any further thoughts or info on this.

I think Argon works fine, but Greenberg here is the expert, among others--I'd refer to him, although you need more posts to PM him---Argon is mentioned here on the Mega Thread but not sure where, check the last 20 pages

One of the greatest but sometimes problematic features of WIKI is that it is public sourced and real experts don't always come by to fix misinformation. I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I have been researching and experimenting with this method for some time now and have a fair understanding of the physics.

Argon is not a problem, in fact just about any inert gas will work. Nitrogen, Helium, and Argon are mostly used because they are easy to get. It's all about getting rid of Carbon Dioxide in the hood or bag which is what triggers your body's survival mechanisms.

The concept of gas stratification within the bag or hood is unlikely, if not impossible. The air currents stirred-up by those two big lungs of yours pumping gas in and out within the confined space of a hood or bag, plus the constant inflow of inert gas create way too much turbulence for stratification to occur.

From what I've read using masks isn't as effective.

Thanks everyone. I could go to a welding store and try and get nitrogen but my anxiety is stopping me. I'm just afraid I'll be asked brewing or welding questions I can't answer.

True. I've never been in a welding supply store. Any idea if they make you create an account like AirGas? They want you to fill out a bunch of paperwork. I also looked for brewing suppliers. None within a few hours.

Don't mention Airgas, they're pathetic--Called some here locally and all their tanks are too small--others PM"d me said they hate Airgas

I´m not talking about any mask, but about a professional diving equipment.

Unfortunately it could be true, I also found info that argon is heavier than air. I don't recommend argon.

Hello guys,

I just wanted to know if the size of the exitbag matters because I tried to ctb using a big bag but it didn't work. Also can I use food grade nitrogen or must it be technical grade nitrogen.

Many thanks

Doesn´t matter, as long as the purity is ok.

Industrial Nitrogen is always 99% pure--You can always ask the retailer to be sure--Exit bag usually should be the 19" x 23.5", also known as a 'Turkey Bag', seen in supermarkets

Hi, does anyone know how loud the cylinder is when it's connected to the regulator and tube? I've read some people saying it's really loud. Is it only loud from up close or could it be heard from another room? I'm planning on going to a hotel and don't want anyone to hear me.

Its not that loud at all--But Inside the exit bag itself you'll hear some hissing, so I wore ear plugs for my tests--Make sure the Regulator is quite tightly connected to the Tank, use a wrench--Otherwise,when you first turn the highly pressurized Nitrogen tank on, the regulator/flowmeter will shoot off like a cannon, making a loud popping sound

15L is perfectly acceptable and will get the job done,as per Greenberg---When talking to K about our Canadian source, he said 25 LPM may make the Nitrogen colder to you
