Thanks for the photos. This cylinder is definitely intended for filling balloons. I really cannot tell from your cylinder photo if it needs a regulator to fill the balloons or simply uses one of the attachments from your latter photos. The photo for the cylinder does not show a flow regulator. To ensure the exit bag method works for you, I would suggest that you consider pairing the inert gas cylinder with a flow regulator set at 15LPM.

There is a regulator built in under the green cap, so if it were a standard inlet connection I could buy a flow meter seperately. That's what I am trying to find out, shot them an email but it is the weekend so.

I found 8 liters of argon online: description "150 - 200 bar" (=pressure)

1. is it safe? why the hell do they write "150-200"? first time Ive seen that. Too imprecise?
2. will 150bar work too? or do u need 200 bar at least?

It makes no odds on what the gas is compressed at it only matters you know what the figure is. 8L at 150 bar is going to be approx 1200L so almost twice what you'll need.

Anyone considered inert gas in a car? From what I've read, it is possible, but looks like most people are just going with exit bag. Interested in hearing peoples thoughts about this.

From what I've read you'd need a lot of gas and it's harder to ensure oxygen is pushed out due the it not being such a controlled environment. I believe there's more risk of brain damage and failure.

Is there a reason why the PPH guide says to get a 10mm elastic (referring to the diameter, right?), would smaller not hold as well or something? I have some 6mm elastic already at home.

Might work, but it might snap, or not hold the bag closed enough. It's supposed to be to where you can get fingers underneath so carbon dioxide can get out from the bag being under positive pressure, but not too loose or air will get in.

Hm yeah makes sense. It's actually surprisingly hard to find a cord lock big enough that will hold 2 ends of a 10mm rope though, unless I'm missing something obvious. The ropes from the exit bag videos don't look like they are 10mm :hihi:

So I just had my first small experiment with a bag. Simply just put the turkey bag over my head for 5 minutes. I have a couple observations.

Firstly it did not bother me at all having a clear bag on my head which is good.

I also did a "thrash" test. I simply lay down in bed head on pillow holding the bag snug to my neck and thrashed as much as I could. It felt silly but I wanted to test the integrity of the bag. Happy to report there was not a problem although I will retry this when using elastic. The bag still inflated by my breath and there was no visible tears or damage to the bag. It did not also move but as mentioned I was holding it with my hand.

The concern I have is the size of the opening of the bag and tightness of the elastic. Firstly the opening is huge, my concern being that when it is elasticated it will simply ruffle like hell. First concern is that it will be hard to judge the tightness. 2nd concern is that there will be so many air gaps in the ruffles.

I also found leaving a 2 finger gap made it much harder to inflate the bag by breath. I would pull the bag "snug" and then put 2 fingers under the bag. I realise the flow of N2 is higher than my tidal flow but simply an observation.

Practicing pulling the bag down was fairly pointless without the elastic. I was attempting to scoop as little oxygen as possible in the process.

All in all fairly positive but need to attach the elastic and try again for more relevant tests.

It seems that in the UK the only choice is between a 2L canister (which only has enough gas for 26 minutes) or a 10L (which is way overkill, more than 2 hours of gas flow). I just checked and realised the 10L weighs 22KG, which is very heavy for my weak self. This sucks.. I have no idea how i'm gonna lug this thing upstairs without being noticed.

I know it probably would be, but apparently there were people who took longer than that. I'd like to be fully sure of it
There are suppliers that sell 9 Litres but still like you say still very heavy. Maybe if you decide to buy the 10 Litre Cylinder perhaps ask the delivery guy to move it upstairs for you.

1.) How large should the diameter of the hose be? Rather thin or thick hose?
2.) How long should the hose be? 2 meters?

It's all about flow really rather than the diameter.
And length it's up to you.

Have I been stupid this whole time; Are the flow meters that come with a pressure gauge for your cylinder also just a type of regulator? Meaning I could just buy one of those and be good to go?

I found Argon from Poland. They say it's 99%. Is 99,0% enough? I heard some people need 99,996%. I'm worried about ending up as a vegetable. Is it worth the money to rather buy 99,996%?

99% is more than sufficient to achieve your intention.

You guys said, that I have to "measure the pressure to know how much gas is still left in the cylinder".

But... how? If the gauge says for example "100 bar" or "5 liters per minute", how does this tell me how much gas volume is left in the cylinder? I'm not good at math, so can you explain to me how I can calculate the existing gas volume just by looking at the gas-pressure?

Noob question here, I'm planning to use this method but here is my concern :
Currently, I'm living in a city at 38m above sea level (1000hPa or 1bar pressure) and I want to take Argon with me on a mountain summit at 1800m (800hPa or 0.8bar).
Do you think the bottle can handle this?

The difference between ambient at sea level and 1.5km at the summit is 0.8bar, or 11.6psi. The incremental pressure increase is well within the design tolerances of compressed gas cylinders.

In other words, no need to worry.

Finally received my argon bottle this morning. Tried the regulator but it was leaking, probably not tight enough.
Got my "mask" (it'd a sand blasting hood), the hose and everything needed.
Gonna leave you guys in 2 weeks

Wait a minute, can G 5/8 and CGA 580 can go together? I thought they were different connector systems?
They are incompatible. G 5/8 is the UK standard.

Hi guys,

I'm not sure I want to leave this life alone. I was wondering if one of you guys could stay by my side when I'll ctb?
I mean during a call or something. That would be a good experience too about how I feel when using this method.
Hope that doesn't sound creepy, it's not meant to be.
Of course I can't ask family or friends for this, they'll panic and try to "save" me as you can guess.

Hi.
I don't know much but think what your asking falls under assistance to suicide. This is illegal. Sorry to say.

Can anyone please help with the process of purchasing the gas? I'm in the states and have never been in a welding store or any industrial gas store. My concern is I will stick out like a sore thumb going in there given I have no knowledge of these gases other than from wanting to use the eb and also since i am in my late 20s and look young.
