ELSA EEBD test.
I tested the Elsa EEBD by donning on styrofoam dummy with partial shoulders.
I leak tested regulator/cylinder valve, regulator outlet, dual barb extended hose first with Snoop.
I chose Snoop because apparently its more non-toxic than others and rated for most systems(Ai told me this so not sure!).

Initially I placed an CY-12c O2 analyzer inside the hood, turned on gas at 25lpm.
It was taking a long time for O2 to drop.
I realised this was due to the external probe on analyser creating an opening at the neck (?).
I replaced the CY-12C with another analyser - Toptes guard-756.
Turned on gas at 25lpm.
It dropped to 0.6% at 2min30sec.
I stopped gas at 0.6% because I realised the hood was already probably at 0 but the meter only drops at a certain speed(?).
It dropped to 0% second later(without gas flow).

So could I have achieved 0% O2 much sooner?.

With no gas flow to hood-

  • 3mins 0%
  • 11mins 0.3%
  • 13 mins 0.5%
  • 15 min 0.6%
I stopped test at 15 mins(0.6% O2) ,I figured this result is good.
If you dont agree please let me know?
If there is something I missed pls let me know.

I keep thinking I missed things.
I want to test the exhaust valve but I dont know how.

Connections etc , I figured out from the different EEBD threads.
Kind of useless repeating those again as they have already been posted better than I could.
Maybe the brand names of a few items differ in different setups.
(Clamps,hoses)

How about photos? They help others see how all this connects.

This thread discusses a lot: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/exit-bag-and-inert-gas-megathread.8393/

There are several different ways a system is assembled
etc

Understandable. Maybe cropped images would work. Or a photo with a blank wall behind.
I still dont think I should.
As for equipment.
I used-
ELSA EEBD hood.
Harris 821 nitrogen gas regulator with flowmeter 0-50lpm.
3m reinforced clear 6mm ID hose(lightest reinforced I could find.for kink resistance).
6mm ID dual barb/brass hose joiner(I searched a bit for a brand with good ridges for sealing).
Oetiker single ear stepless clamps(best clamps! better than crimping with brass ferrules).
Knipex clamp tool.
Hose cutter.
Snoop
leak detection fluid..
Adjustable spanner 0-43mm

I forget the clamp sizes but ELSA hose with barb inserted was about 11.6.mm.
Extension hose(10mm OD I think) with barb was around 12.6mm.
These specific clamps need to be sized almost exactly, there's a sweet spot to aim for..

I could have git much cheaper brand of the same type of clamps, hood, regulator, clamp tool but opted for the best to minimize failure risk.

I actually spent so much more for my setup than necessary because initially I bought cheaper equipment, often double the amount of an item needed as well(for potential mistakes in putting it together).

But then I realised I should buy the best quality of items I can afford to minimize failure. So I purchased everything name brand.

There's a huge difference in quality (for example) between oetiker single ear stepless clamps and some random name ones.Different steel grades used, different tolerances in manufacturing.

Wht brand ELSA EEBD hood.? The yellow Chinese ones are trash everybody, they are excellent at getting one out of a smokefilled environ. but not so good for our purposes I discovered.

I have Scott Elsa and Chinese yellow hood( from AB.I specifically chose the best company there specialising in PPE) who have been operating for 15 or 20years(important).
Factory was verified by AB.
the yellow hood I have is solid .
I think you may have got a faulty unit, this happens regardless of where an item is made, brand etc.
There have been many western made EEBD units sent out to marketplace with defects in the past too I think.
I'm using Elsa as a primary with Yellow hood as a backup (left within arms distance).
