until they're suicidal than it's all of their business 🙄
when it comes to contradictory shit like this I try to tell myself that it's not necessarily the same people saying the opposing statements but christ the thought has been riling me up.

or maybe it's because I'm suicidal so I'm pretty dulled to the idea of someone's death. whereas any normal person would agree to the first sentient but still freak out when the second comes to fruition.

just a mini vent. I think it's been years since my last thread here.

In the end, it's more about the thought of their own loss than about actually helping. That's why people jump on you when you're pondering suicide. They're more concerned with their own emotions than the suicidal person's. As long as you're alive and they don't need to deal with loss, you could be suffering like hell and it wouldn't matter. It's disgusting.

Let them.

1. "You cannot please everyone; control the things you can control." ~Suncha Ferreira (Victus Group)/Mark 8:36, Matthew 13:12

2. The grass withers, the flowers fade, because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. (Isaiah 40:7-8)

3. The world hates liabilities, and would rather they not exist, as much as the rules dictate that all life is inherently valuable. (Proverbs 25:17)

Therefore, as much as I desire to live, and that a world without me would be awfully dull and grey, this isn't up to me; if I die, I die; though my father, mother, and the whole world forsake me, the Lord will bring me up. (Esther 4:11, Psalm 27:10)

voluntary euthanasia would be one of the best things the government could invest in. i imagine it will be legal in the future .. but until then .. those suffering will continue to be a burden to society and themselves

I notice how quickly these sentiments change from……
"You can't help someone who doesn't want help"
to……
"I can't hold your hand every step of the way"…………
When you actually have to put in some type of effort to stop someone from offing themselves, that isn't the same bullshit suicide prevention brochure talking points.

People who say this usually can't and won't admit that their low minimum effort help is as useless as a lifeguard at a fucking Olympic swim-meet.🙄

They want the fanfare of saying they helped someone not kill themselves, but the moment they actually have to put skin in the game all of a sudden you're asking for too much. I loathe these people so goddamn much.

Honestly I think people don't even think that "you can't help someone who doesn't want help" in other contexts. Or at least that's my experience as someone who sometimes struggles with one (1) step in their tasks and gets them promptly ripped out of my hands.
or maybe it's because I'm suicidal so I'm pretty dulled to the idea of someone's death. whereas any normal person would agree to the first sentient but still freak out when the second comes to fruition
I mean yeah being suicidal desensitizes you to that but also society treats dying as such a tragic and horrid thing and not as something that everyone will do someday. Which is bullshit because as previously mentioned: We're all gonna die someday.

Maybe it's the aspect of thinking that living is in and of itself a thing people intrinsically want. And going against that makes people uncomfortable and forces them to think about uncomfortable topics. So they convince themselves that stopping someone from killing themselves is always a morally good and right thing and that the person they're saving wanted to be saved.
Doesn't help that that message gets repeated over and over again by people who failed at their attempt and stopped being suicidal. Survivorship bias at its finest.

Hey, welcome back. Or my condolences. Whichever you think fits the mood
