does "i don't plan on living long" sound suicidal to non-suicidal people?

i mean, could that sentence get you put in the nuthouse if you said it to a shrink or something?
what about "i'm not sure how long my life will be" -- i think that one is more vague
'I don't plan on living long' absolutely sounds like a suicidal statement, 'I'm not sure how long my life will be' just feels like a general sort of 'anything could happen' statement

"i don't plan on living long" compared to "i'm not sure how long my life will be" just feels like such a big tone difference. i had a problem with saying really suicidal things before realizing i needed to block people i vented to so that i can avoid getting 51/50ed, and i would just say things along the lines of "i don't know how much longer i can take it" and "i can't keep living like this". i think that things that make you sound suicidal are hard for you to notice when you say it in the moment, but really obvious when you remember it.

I would definitely not say either to my shrink. I would be really careful not to end up in a hospital. The first sentence is definitely suicidal, and the second one is partly, but then the shrink would follow up with 'Oh, what do you mean? ', and then you have to talk yourself out of the situation.
It's better to say something like 'this is just really hard' instead.
