Barbituate; depressant by increasing the duration of GABA receptor chloride channel openings. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, so by stimulating those channels it relaxes you. It's similar to how benzos work, but benzos increase the frequency of the chloride channel openings instead.Similar threads
