Sometimes I can go days without crying even though im still severely depressed. Other days I cry constantly. My depression is chemical and treatment resistant. I am 57 now and my life is essentially over. The only reason I made it this far is some meds would work for years so I could at least function. Nothing has worked now for 3 years. But the crying is the worst. I really need to end it but I'm so afraid. I read depression takes 20 years off your life so I must almost be there.

I'm so, so sorry, I wish I could offer you some comfort.

But yeah, I cry every day too. Just lying there, wailing. It's the worst.

I should be crying all the time ... but I never do. Like ever. I'm unable to cry for some reason. I just feel like an empty void.

I am sorry to hear about the pain you are going through :(

I cry a lot. Especially in bed at night thinking about this unfair life or while arguing with family.

Last year I cried multiple times a week, but this year I just feel kinda dead and empty inside. Now I probably cry like once a month at most, but I just have the constant feeling in the back of my mind that something is going horribly wrong or on the verge of collapsing. It's hard to describe.

I saw your post on the make a friend mega thread. I also live on the east coast and we have some of the same interests. However I am more than twice your age, will be 57 next week. But I am pretty cool and not like an old lady. My profile pic is really me from 3 years ago before the depression hit me real hard. I have a lot of years behind me dealing with mental illness and much wisdom to offer. Anyway DM me if you are interested.

I hear how completely exhausted you are, and it makes total sense that you feel overwhelmed after fighting this severe, treatment-resistant pain for so long. That fear you feel isn't a weakness it's a deeply human sign that a part of you still wants to be here, it just wants the agony to stop.

Since I've been taking bupropion I can't cry that easy anymore, I used to do it all the time. Now when bad shit happens in my life and I want to cry it's an effort to do it. Dunno if that's normal with anti-depressants but it's been my experience so far.
