Discussion Does anybody else worry about their mental health record being accessed after they ctb?

I know that if I were to ctb it would be investigated due to where I live. I don't want certain details from my mental health record being broadcasted to my family or to the public. Could that happen?

I know someone will comment "you'll be dead so why do you care" but I do care. There's information in there that I don't want surfacing. Things I wish I'd never told or implied to professionals. I'm also just a private person in real life when it comes to my mental health. I don't talk about it as much anymore because it's pointless really. I just don't like the idea of my family and friends knowing everything. When I eventually go I'll write notes giving them information I feel comfortable sharing.

The principle of doctor-patient confidentiality doesn't stop when you die. Anything you told any medical health professional during the course of treatment falls under this principle, so in theory they shouldn't be revealing any of your sensitive information unless there's a compelling legal reason to do so. I say "in theory" because you might live somewhere where standards of professional ethics aren't quite so high.
