I have heard a lot of stories that their cats make someone want to live again and I've heard that they can made them more suicidal too? So does that depend?

That's true I need to think more thoroughly about this, thank you for your advicePets can definitely give people a reason to live. However, I would not get one solely for the purpose of making you less suicidal because if it doesn't work and you end up killing yourself anyway, then that pet will be abandoned.

You're so kind to think about them even when you're struggling!this is why i only took care of neighborhood strayseven then i felt so bad when i didnt leave a cat food for a month because that entire month i could hardly get out of bed. thankfully i knew another neighbor was feeding her though.
I think about this a lot too. I couldn't bear to lose them or think about me leaving them and they would think I've left them. I hope my situation would get better and I would have the privilege to have them in my life tho. Thank you for your replyPets are commitments and commitments that you really need to care about, like another animal such as a cat or dog can be really good for recovery purposes because it gets you into a routine related to caring for them, but like most people in this thread have said already it's really something you need to think about like all commitments. And they're right in that, if you do end up leaving the world, there's no one to take care of your pet - which is like. A really big problem unless you have plans to get someone you know to take care of the pet in question after your passing or something else.
So it can both be a pressure and something good! It's something to very much think on.
Hey, I have a cat and me being scared nobody will take care of him after I'm gone really helped me but does not fix the problem and I may have to leave him one day.I have heard a lot of stories that their cats make someone want to live again and I've heard that they can made them more suicidal too? i love my cat!! pets can be very comforting when you're having a hard time, but i have never been having a suicidal meltdown and been like "but my cat!!". maybe because she's a family pet and i know she will be taken care of? i guess it depends on your situation.I have heard a lot of stories that their cats make someone want to live again and I've heard that they can made them more suicidal too?
