I was astounded to find there are more than a few registered users who use light mode. I thought it was set by default as a way to repel unwanted visitors

I think dark mode overall is common. But sensitivity to light is also common for people with depression and anxiety. So not surprising most here said dark.
Also I've noticed many saying they have Asperger's. So I've looked into it because it seems to match me well. And it's a symptom there too.
Yes. Showing bright content on an OLED screen drains the battery a bit faster. On older LCD screens no matter what content is shown the battery drain Remains the Same.
