Discussion Do you intend on being sober when you CTB?

I personally can't imagine going through with it sober. The survival instinct would be insanely strong. I don't know when I'm gonna CTB, but when I will, I intend on dampening my SI by being drunk as hell. Alcohol inhibits the amygdala (the part of the brain mostly responsible for fear, anxiety, and fight-or-flight which constitute the SI) so doing it sober is not an opinion for me

Alcohol would be too unpredictable for me. Maybe a bit of weed a few hours before, but not when I'm supposed to follow protocol. I'm more focused sober and too afraid something may go wrong if not of sober mind.

i would LOVE to be drunk when dying, bc i'm often happy and at peace when drunk. however i don't think i'd be able to get away with for 2 reasons: the first being i'm under 21 and don't have easy access to alcohol, the second being i plan on using SN and am too afraid the alcohol would trigger vomiting, as it has in the past when i got drunk. so unfortantely i plan on being stone cold sober, unless you count the sedative that'll put me to sleep

Got drunk once thinking it would help and it made me so relaxes I no longer wanted to die. I also do not want to risk messing up by being impaired.

Same, if I get drunk enough all my SI and hesitation/inhibition completely goes away. It's nice to know I can rely on that to avoid changing my mind at the last second

Drugs mainly alcohol have been such a big part of my adult life/escape/coping mechanism that I can't fathom dying sober. It'd almost be like leaving town for good without giving your best friend a hug.

If I end up hanging or jumping I'm planning to get high on kratom, weed, phenibut, and alcohol. Poisoning would sadly need to be done sober.

God I hope not. But who knows? Sometimes you need the clear headedness of sobriety to accomplish something.

Absolutely. I've never been drunk in my life and weed makes me horribly sick, so I'll be sober like usual.

All my aborted attempts have been sober and I'll keep it that way if I attempt again. I never drink. What method are you getting drunk for?

knowing me i'm a coward who will need it to not have SI win, so probably. i've gotten drunk once before but that was euphoric, if it's on *the* evening then it will probably be a different kind of drunk, more to lower inhibition but not so much that i spill all the powder on the floor or something

Partial suspension hanging. Setting up the rope and getting it around my neck and kneeling takes a lot of willpower, less so however for an intoxicated mind

Ah, I remember you posting about PSH before. Kneeling PSH is my method too but I always back out. Not sure the squeeze is hard enough but it gets scary fast and gives me the head rush so it probably is.
