I suppose I want to know how many people on here experience this feeling;

gender dysphoria, the experience of feeling uncomfortable with the way you are perceived or express yourself due to it not aligning with your gender identity.

you don't have to be transgender to experience gender dysphoria

I believe deep down I am a closeted transgender man, my gender identity doesn't align with my body, social perception or assigned gender. while I do enjoy indulging in my femininity, I constantly experience *intense gender dysphoria toward my body, I genuinely just wish I was born a male.

sigh

Yes, I posted a thread about this earlier but I deleted it out of embarrassment lol. I've been dealing with a wave of gender dysphoria but unsure if I'd call myself FTM 😓

I don't really like describing myself as a trans guy neccesarily, but I'm a guy that experiences gender dysphoria. it's ruined my life beyond ever repairable and is a pretty big contributor to why i wanna ctb

I don't experience it as intensely as a lot of people do, but it's definitely there. Kind of fluctuates, so I tell people I'm nonbinary when they ask—at least in theory; nobody ever asks. I present as the gender I was assigned at birth, mostly because I know people would make it into a big thing if I didn't, and I really don't want to debate about it.

I don't know if this perspective is welcome, but I don't feel it.

Because I've not experienced it, it can be difficult for me to fully grasp gender and people's complicated relationships with it. I do empathize and count any person in the lgbtq+ community a comrade and a kindred spirit.

My only problem with being female is the crushing expectation to perform beauty and youth, to conform to the public's idea of what a woman ought to look like and act like. I prefer men's tailored suits and think I'd look nice with a beard, or at least some facial hair. Instead I am forced (partially internally, mostly via media and social expectations) to shave my whole body and look girlish, supple and up for grabs. It disgusts me.
By body, however, does not. I like my body and my face(shaved or not). I prefer my certain physical characteristics over the alternative. Just not the social experience of it all

My experience does not negate others

I do not know where I am on the scale of dysphoria. I wish I was born male but I have accepted I was not. I dress more "male" but I do not particularly mind being perceived as a female. I just have this constant, resigned sadness about it.

Not intensely. I don't like being female. I reject complying to most female stereotypes now. I also hate certain aspects of myself. That's more for getting so fat and unhealthy but I'm very conscious that I'm unnatractive. Also, the biology side of it is unpleasant. I hate periods.

I sometimes think it would have been better to have been born male. I'd prefer the ability to be stronger. I prefer male haircuts and clothes. I was always a tom boy- prefering construction and practical toys to pretty things.

I wouldn't say I have strong dysphoria though. I don't exactly feel at odds with my body or sexuality. It's more society I dislike for putting expectations on us to comply to stereotypes.

Seeing as I prefer to blend in- I tend to comply with some things I maybe wouldn't if I truly didn't care. I often think it would be great just to shave my head hair off or, really short. It's always moulting. I'm at least grateful that I'm alive now. When it isn't quite so frowned upon to wear clothes that are comfortable, rather than feminine.

I can't speak for everyone of course, but I very much welcome this perspective. It sucks that society puts so much pressure on people to fit into restrictive (and often harmful) gender roles. And even if you were 100% straight, cis, and gender conforming, there's nothing wrong with that. I appreciate that that you're being authentic and leaving space for everyone else to be as well.

Your first and second paragraphs are at odds. Terfs are fuckers, glad we agree. If the "trans discourse" overwhelms cis people, that's on cis people. Queer folks stand together, cis, trans, nb or anything on the vast spectrum of human experience. If someone's overwhelmed by trans people living their lives, chances are they also prefer gay ppl to "curb their agenda". I see it happen daily as a rural, conforming queer

The only reason I commented, is the formulation of " Do you..? ". I don't. It's not a stand or an opinion, just sharing. My opinion is that gender is dictated by social expectations and often gets misaligned and mislabeled via perception of others. My stand is with trans people, always

May I ask exactly what this means? Because I don't think gender itself is dictated by social expectations. I'm a dysphoric trans man, but I dress feminine and that gives me gender euphoria. Society isn't exactly the fan of that (not even a lot of cis gay people).

That's exactly what I mean. When others perceive you, they assign labels, often inaccurate ones. Thus creating the need to affirm or assert internal experience. I doubt gender would matter in a vacuum, where only one's own perception shapes one's actions. Whether there'll even be need for gender to exist at all

Essentially, useless philosophy. Has little bearing on actual daily experience, feel free to filter out. I think it's been debated by bearded suicidal authors for a long while, whether gender is a social construct or an innate feeling
