Maybe some do, but I feel like most "normal" people are on an entirely different wavelength from us. They see something beautiful and infinitely rewarding in the simplicity of this life, and their survival instinct deters them from ever seriously thinking about putting an end to it. They value what they already have over the unanswered questions of death, and I envy that greatly.

Most people, from my experience, can't wrap their head around being as suicidal as I am. It just isn't something that has any reason to enter their world on a near daily basis. Likewise, I can't wrap my head around being happy with life, having that kind of mentality waking up everyday. They think I must secretly enjoy living, and you think they must secretly enjoy the thought of dying. In opposite ways, we are the same.
100% disagree. I think almost everyone wants to live.
Most people I meet are resilient, excited about life, and have no thoughts of suicide beyond "Ugh I wish this bad time would just be over." But then, most people I meet have a strong support system, no mental illness, a partner and/or kids, lots of things to look forward to, etc. Seriously contemplating suicide doesn't cross their mind... And you can see it in response to articles or posts about suicide. They literally cannot wrap their minds around the act or why anyone would do it. We are just a decade or so removed from the popular and widespread idea of CTB being an option for only weak or selfish people who can't handle life. (Not to say people don't think like this now, but the focus is more on muh mental health)
Do most people enjoy suffering? How do they find the simplicity of life "rewarding"? How are they "excited" about life?

Normies seem to be more resilient than us though and believe that suffering makes you stronger. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". They view suffering and struggle as something honorable and they regard hardships as something meaningful. I don't understand. I've never wanted to suffer and I don't believe that suffering is necessary for a good existence. I don't want to struggle at all. I want my life to be as easy as possible. Suffering is just an unfortunate fact of life

No one enjoys suffering but for most death is just not an option for one reason or another. I personally enjoy my own sadness, it's my only comfort

Nobody enjoys it but most people assume it will get better with time and the suffering will make them stronger and give them wisdom which may be the case for some people but for me it's just made me more bitter and cynical

I don't think they enjoy it, I think they find purpose in it. While those of us here see suffering as unbearable and something not worth continuing for, they see it as a challenge that allows them to grow. Something to fight through and learn from. I'm glad for those who are able to see suffering as something with the potential for positivity, I don't understand people here who wish pain onto others. I don't like when they try and say that we should adopt their mindset, because how the hell do you just change how you think about everything when nothing seems worth it, but I'm happy for those that see pain as a place for growth. Maybe I'm even a bit jealous.

Life is complicated especially for us. I don't feel like I'm completely losing my mind if I focus on the simple things, it's more complications unnecessary ones that just worsens my symptoms. So like maybe that's how people keep themselves happy? By focusing on the small stuff and not sweating the big stuff and we have to understand life is different levels of stressful for everyone. Like most of us I'd say experience heightened emotions but like that's not the normal thing most normal people feel.

I think anyone who enjoys suffering must be really badly broken inside.

Most people either love and enjoy life, or end up depressed and suicidal.

Those who enjoy suffering are probably a tiny fraction of people

I think that most normies do enjoy suffering but only to an extent. When the suffering gets too much, that's when they start to break down and become suicidal and hate suffering. When they aren't suffering too much however, they do enjoy suffering especially if said suffering is beneficial for their survival. Life is basically equivalent to suffering and normies enjoy that. Of course they do try their best to not increase their suffering when it isn't necessary for survival such as how they avoid watching too many uncomfortable things on the news and also immediately dismissing views that are "harmful" to their perspective of life and so on
Normies seem to be more resilient than us though and believe that suffering makes you stronger. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". They view suffering and struggle as something honorable and they regard hardships as something meaningful. I don't understand. I want my life to be as easy as possible and I don't want to suffer either. Normies truly are stronger than us mentally which scares the hell out of me. I don't want to suffer the way they do.. it's too much for me to handle

I think unfortunately suffering in mild doses can make enjoyable things seem more enjoyable.

I totally get how you feel. I know I have no resilience like normies do. It scares me when I read some of the horrific stuff people go through. I'm really lucky not to have experienced any severe physical pain but it just scares me that others do. I know I should be thinking thank god that wasn't me but all I can think was how TF did they get through that. It gives me anxiety.

But I don't think most people enjoy suffering they just don't dedicate a lot of headspace to it (and you're not allowed to talk about life being shit cos that's bringing others down) they just figure they'll deal with it as it comes. I think they see death the same way. And they see suffering as a necessary part of life.

I think it's hard to know whether normies enjoy suffering or not because they have so much cognitive dissonance when it comes to life. They do try to minimise their own suffering when the suffering isn't instrumental suffering (i.e. suffering that does not alleviate further suffering down the line - such as our type of suffering). However, when the suffering that they experience is instrumental suffering, they justify it and even praise it (hence why they use the "suffering makes you stronger" or "suffering builds character" quote as sera stated above). This makes me think that, whilst they do try to avoid harsher suffering and even accept the average suffering as part of life, they still do enjoy the suffering that they go through.

But I do admit it's hard to know what the normies true thoughts on this are because they have so much cognitive dissonance and they always lie to themselves
