Disposable BBQ Car Method: CO Simplified

Most of the CO threads go into great detail about chimney starters, meters, complicated locations etc. But looking at successful suicides in the news it's clear all that is needed is:

a) A small vehicle
b) 1-2 disposable bbqs (in the foil trays) totalling 1kg charcoal

Simplified method:
1) Light disposable bbqs outside until they stop smoking/flaming (20 mins)
2) Bring inside car and put on bricks / water tray in boot

It's clearly effective. These stories are encouraging for me as CO in a vehicle was my #1 choice (until I went down the SN rabbit hole) and I'm reminded how we over complicate things.

How many of the above stories even involve benzos/booze. They just got in with the bbqs and stayed in. 1-2 hours seems enough with 1kg of coals in a car to CTB.

I like the minimalism of it. Same with the Asian car CO suicides. Nothing fancy, just getting in with their charcoal stoves:

In none of those articles is there indications of struggle/injury so I'm hoping you drift off into unconsciousness.

If I do it I'll take diazepam / alcohol as I'm waiting to put bbqs in car. The sooner you fall asleep in there the better

Most of those news articles are cars in lay-bys and locations where you won't be stumbled upon until well into the next day.

Don't really need a "Warning CO" note as the gas will disappear as soon as the vehicle is opened.

^I figure if you are out cold with drink, you just won't be waking up at all? What about warning signs for others, etc - how to manage that?

I'd consider rigging it up somehow so that the car burns everything up after it's over. Ideas?

Anyway, this method interests me now. I already have SN and a working tourniquet setup, but I am always on the lookout for more. I live in an apartment and have no car, but I can't see why a tent wouldn't work.

Yessss about time. I attempted co a couple of months back with a tent, went through the whole Episode and I just got sleepy. I think with the lack of sleep I had / having it just went past me and I somehow went wrong. CO is definitely my favourite method. Going to go to my favourite place after a nice day and go for it. Failure with CO is usually because of:

1. Not sustaining high enough CO levels for long enough (air holes, not enough coals etc)
2. Survival instinct - leaving the space too early

I bought a chimney starter, bbq, the charcoal and lit it outside until the flames were gone. I put a tent up in the kitchen and then brought them inside the tent. I put in a sleeping bag and stuff to try make me pass out quicker but I just stayed their sleepy. Thinking about it I think it was probably the hydrostatic head rating on the tent as I didn't seal it or I didn't stay long enough (I didn't time it but I thought I was in there a while) I had a headache for a day or two after but that's it.

Roughly how much coal was it? A chimney starter is 1-2kg. And did you stay in there more than 2 hours? Let me know if you felt nausea / headaches when you were in there and how the heat was from the coals. I'm still thinking of returning to this if my SN drugs don't come soon

Beware of this method. If the amount of charcoal burnt is not sufficient, and you are awake, it is highly likely that you will have some brain damage.

I was curious about this and a hotel room. I would prefer to do it in my own place but if I did I wouldn't want the cops looking around my place after. I think as long as you don't mess up the room or car, they couldn't go after your family for costs.

Hotel rooms will probably have carbon monoxide detectors.

This is one particular method that would not go well with rented spaces. Pick another method if you need to go to a hotel or rent a car.

CO has possibility of messing up a car and at minimum will leave a strong smell. You also may not die. There is a reasonable failure rate with this method and of you don't die, you will be groggy and have difficulties for at least a day or two.

I dont have a car so plan to do this in my small bathroom. I have a small weber grill that sits on ground, does anyone know if this is more or less effective then the disposable bbqs?

A week ago I would have said the grill would be better (with the coals lit in the chimney starter outside beforehand) but after my experience on Tuesday I'm wondering why so many people succeed with disposable bbqs.

Either way, make sure there's enough coal (1-2kg), that the space is sealed and you get sleepy first from booze/benzos etc

Test them out first. Whatever makes you drowsy/sleepy. You could use alcohol, something like doxylamine succinate, benadryl etc

I have to agree. It seems like it's part of the process for most people as they come to terms with their decision.

In my country a simple charcoal stove in an enclosed space, even a bedroom is enough to kill most people who go this way.

Asian country? I have big respect for this method, especially how it's done in Japan and Taiwan. Natural resources, small space. Minimalism at its finest

Frankly I think this and H are the easiest painless ctb methods.
Some vodka should mellow you out and make the experience less scary, at least for me.

@CarbonMonoxide I have no idea how I failed last week. It seems an impossibility. 2kg of coals, small modern compact car, 8 hours knocked out with valium/vodka and CO fumes. And some people die from tiny amounts off of a cooled disposable bbq in a tent. I'm more than puzzled!
