i would consider it pretty restricted. i was allowed to use the internet during the day, but i had an app that would show my parents my search history and stuff, so what i could do on it was pretty limited lol

my mom would also go through my phone at night. i didnt even know until one morning she yelled at me about something someone else said in text

Well I was born in 1979 so much of childhood didn't have internet. We got dial up access around the start of high school in the early 90s. But then it was pretty bad. Like porn was 2kb grainy images, not HD videos. I can't recall seeing gore until I'd left school. In fact, it probably wasn't worth restricting internet for anyone until around 1998. I didn't even have an email address until 1996 and I feel like I was one of the first (still have the same one now btw). I think you really needed to be born in the mid 80s or later to have a childhood where unrestricted internet meant something.
