I was looking on Google Earth to see if there were any potential places around me that would allow for easy methods if I was ever truly desperate to get it done without following my full proper plan.

I found a bridge about a 15 minute walk away. But it's one of those bridges that goes over a highway and I could easily see that having a higher chance of severe injuries than a chance of death.

Anyone know what the actual odds are?

Odds are dumb tbh, people can survive crazy things. A like rule of thumb is 3x your height is more likely to be fatal than not but most people do survive unless they land on their head or something. I survived a 25ft fall, it's not much but I ended up with very serious injuries. The cliff I fell from was 300ft and by pure luck I landed on a ledge so there's always a chance of survival. If you jump off a highway you could land on a car etc. or fall all the way and be severely injured. Many people have survived falls like that but ended up paralysed. Mine almost left me paralysed and I was extremely lucky to only have to injuries I did. It all depends on the way you land but honestly it's a horrible way to go, especially if you survive. It's an extremely traumatising experience and if on a highway, could end up badly for someone else. I hope you can find peace one day whatever that means to you <3

Don't be desperate. Always plan your move or you'll end up regretting it. For me, you shouldn't use suicide methods that rely on random chances. Hanging is an effective method, even drowning.

If you're willing to accept the 2-5% chance of a non fatal injury, it's a good benchmark height. However, if you do care how you get there, it doesn't necessarily mean fatal on impact, it just means fatal. That could be fatal after impact, fatal after lying in agony for a minute, fatal after found and taken to hospital - who knows really. It's a raw stat in that sense, accounting for any type of fatality after a fall from said height or greater.

Btw, a highway bridge is unlikely to be this high, so obviously the percentages start to reduce...

Please try to avoid ending yourself from a highway overpass if possible, cars crashing into each other at 70+km/h would cause a significant amount of collateral damage.

My preferred plan is to hang myself in a forest far away from people. This is just incase I really, really, can't wait until the date I set for that. (Since it's something I plan to do in another country it's not something I could do at a moments notice with zero planning). I most likely will never do this though. Just wanted to check the chances incase the odds ever line up for that.
