Yeah, the idea of a cyclic or eternal return universe can be unsettling. Nietzsche talked about it from a philosophical standpoint. This notion that if time is infinite and matter is finite, then eventually everything will repeat, down to the exact detail. Pain, joy, trauma. Like reruns on a cosmic loop.

But from a physics standpoint? There's no consensus.

The Big Crunch → Big Bounce model is one possibility. In that version, the universe collapses back on itself and then "rebounds" into another Big Bang. But whether consciousness survives or returns in that process? That's fear, or hope, depending on your perspective.
There's no evidence that your particular self would be reinstantiated. The laws of thermodynamics suggest that subjective consciousness isn't something that resurfaces like a saved game file.
And if it did? You wouldn't know it! You wouldn't remember this loop. It wouldn't be you again. It would just be another collection of atoms with a similar name and maybe a similar pain. Which is, in its own way, a kind of oblivion.

So your pain won't echo forever. You're not trapped in a feedback loop. You're here now, experiencing one unique timeline. What you do with it is yours.
Also: I get the "pleasure before passing" logic. That said, don't rush toward that just because you fear repeating this. You're not cursed to relive this pain forever. Even physics doesn't believe that.

Personally this is one of the outcomes I'm actually hoping for.

Regardless of the extreme lows I've felt, the awful things I've had to experience, there have also been moments of joy. I'd go through all of it again if it meant meeting my best friends for the first time again, seeing the beauty the world has to offer, falling in love. Even if heartbreak has pushed me to the darkest places I have ever known, what came before it was euphoric. I just hope that minor changes can be made, so that the love I felt can last longer than what I had.

These kinds of eschatological concerns are fun to muse on, but it's implausible that we're born again this way to me. I'm pretty sure there's no afterlife, and I hope there's no being reborn into my life ad infinitum. My life sucks.

Some neuroscientists hypothesize that consciousness is just a collection of multiple into one. That the different parts of the brain are unaware of each other, but work together to form a conscious. I would assume this hypothesis is almost impossible to be proven true because if we WERE able to then technically we would be aware of the multiple consciousnesses, just unable to communicate to them. It's why many people theorize free will is not an actual thing.

But honestly, even if consciousness were cyclic it would be impossible to tell if we didn't retain any memories. And the only evidence that we do is when someone notices their young child talking about specific memories that belong to another person who died (reincarnation). But the child seems to be unaware really, just yapping, and the instances are rare and almost always anecdotal. So I truly doubt that you would be aware of your new consciousness forming. And consciousnesses are dependent on what happens to you in your life time so it wouldn't be you either way. The way everything works is so fucking random and chaotic the chances of Earth occurring exactly the way it did once are very small.

Back to the multiple consciousnesses thing, sometimes I wonder if we make up a super organism that we are not aware we are apart of but function as the multiple consciousnesses for that organism. Idk I'm a bit high so I'm saying weird stuff.
