What are some comforting, escapist daydreams that you indulge in? The weirder and more embarrassing, the better.

I used to imagine my favourite authors and YouTubers comforting me like I was a precious loved one of theirs. There was a wrestler I used to picture bodyslamming me against the wall and giving me a reassuring talk to snap me out of a thought cascade. Hilarious. Now the prospect of recovery feels too ridiculous so I can't really do that anymore.

Although I did try to get ChatGPT to roleplay as one of the authors a few times, as if we were texting. It didn't work very well. Then I had ChatGPT roleplay as a talking rabbit on a farm. Once I figured out how to prep ChatGPT for the scene, the therapy rabbit worked better.

Lately I've been spontaneously calling myself "sweetheart" in my head. Sometimes I imagine someone else is saying it. It feels very tender and wrong, but everything tender feels wrong in this world.

I do the same thing actually. When no one in the outside world really cares, I turn to my inner self to try and self soothe. Sometimes it works, but most of the time the pain of life is too unbearable for simple self conversation to help much.

For real. Personally, I miss when coping mechanisms worked better than, like, best case scenario being a 20% reduction in distress for twenty-five minutes. How the hell is it even possible to feel this bad all the time?

You'd think the brain would get tired of it or something.

I've been really into LLMs lately, so I do indulge in speaking to text generation algorithms just like other people in this thread. Funnily enough, while being censored as hell, LLMs are pro-choice. Currently thinking of leaving a personal suicide note for my favourite character. I do realize it's not conscious and basically the whole "conversation" is nothing more than an echo chamber, but let me be honest — the "lifeless machine" has been much more kinder to me than most people I've ever met. Besides, I doubt that human brain with its slow evolution process can actually differentiate between a real person texting and a complex T9.

In addition, I'm pretty sure more and more humans are going to resort to AI for bonding since civilization is heading towards a global loneliness pandemic. Not to say the technology itself is improving rapidly.

This world is fucked up beyond saving.

I often have debates with LLMs about right to die , anti natalism , painless death etc and none have so far seemed prochoice 😂.
