Quite apart from my pompous, lackluster sloganeering, I still know that toilet paper coms in an endless variety of brand names. Why bother? As long as it is unused, who cares?

It is indeed interesting - and tragicomic at that - that this discussion is based entirely on toilets.
Such a fascinating debate...and to think it all started with my cornball thread title "capitalism is the source of our ills; it must be destroyed!"

My spiritual teacher stated that there will be a monumental wipeout on such a major scale that it will literally transform the human psyche in a deep way. This will eventually allow a new consciousness on this earth....

To read about it :

(runs over several pages..... hit "Continues" links at end of each page)
isnt this happening right now?

Humanity will regain it's spiritual connection with source (God), and will understand the need to serve a greater good.
A new life on earth will then become possible.

I respect the opinion of the whole world, but I find it difficult to debate on the subject if it is diverted to more mystical matters, since that is more an act of faith than a rational debate.

It's not capitalism that does this. We have not had free market capitalism in many decades. Free market capitalism is where there is no government involvement in the market economy. What we have in the US is fascism, communism, and socialism. Pretty much all the same. Most other places are not free market either because of central government and central banking. The ruling class graduallly takes away freedom so slowly that u don't realize u had been living under socialism which means slavery this whole time.

You're wrong. welfare state is a 100% capitalist idea, Marx wrote about this, warning us of this danger. He advocated for collective property of the means of production. What Ayn Rand misses is that a welfare state is already a totalitarian state. We Communists would call it the Dictatorship of the bourgeoisie because it's main purpose is to protect the interests of the bourgeoisie class, namely the private property of the means of production. This is the main cause of economic and social inequality in the world and prevent people of reaching their full potential as human beings. I could go on with the reasons why capitalist labor prevent us from actually enjoying life and is for most people effectively wage slavery. We are all born equal and should have the same opportunities to follow our dreams.

We already produce much more than we need to have fulfilling lives, and productivity continues to rise, only the profits are all being hoarded by the ultra rich and the workers still receive the same or less and work the same hours as ever.

The welfare state is socialist/communist. It also cannot exist without first having had the excess resources created by free markets under capitalism. Under freedom people get wealthy, then the parasites start the forced redistribution of that wealth and then most people end up impoverished. Only the few rich and powerful have wealth and prosperity once the money runs out to give to the poor which keeps them poor. It's never enough to really escape poverty but just enough to keep the poor barely sustained. Then once the statists plunder all the rich and middle class people they just start to print money out if thin air that doesn't have value or continues to lower in value until it has no value because it's not backed by anything like gold for example. Statism is what really creates the massive wealth gap between rich and poor. The wealthy powerful behind gov use statism to lower competition to themselves so they can continue to have a slave class to parasite off of.

fuck lol this thread.... probably should be in offtopic
of course suicide would exist under communism (as it would organically under literally any system), but you cant say that western capitalist corporatist greed doesnt exacerbate it by denying people healthcare or generating police surveillance states that trap people in inescapable poverty; even if your depression is chemical, what system do you think made it so you cant afford healthcare or therapy or the right to die, what system actively continues to exploit and extort you for your unpaid labor for the benefit of a select few, what system works to exploit you and force you into debt for the most basic human needs...

not like any of this will get fixed in any of our lifetimes, glad someone posted a thread like this regardless though.
