• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

When my psychiatrist evaluates me for suicidal ideation I always have to lie. She asks what way I'm thinking of and I have to lie. I say I think of hanging myself but that isn't true. I have a revolver that I haven't been able to clean because I know I will just stick it to my head and pull the trigger. If I even tell her I got a gun she would commit me. Even though I bought it legally I don't think she would allow me to keep it knowing what she does.
There's really no point in talking to her if I can't even say what I'm thinking. Why does this suddenly become some sort of legal battle the minute you have verboten thoughts about your own belongings?

Society/the system/the people in it is/are not what they should be. That psych is there to help her own wallet and if able to help you without needing to do much for it or endangering the amount of money she is earning from you, then fine. But really one shouldn't expect anything more then that from our system and the people subjected to it. That's besides the point where i believe that psych's can't do much good generally. Just my opinion though and possibly not the most popular opinion. I wish you the best.

Yes that is your experience, I've heard many good stories about recovery from these kind of institutions.
So yea it's atleast worth a try.

The only utility she has is dealing me drugs to control my bipolar. The system is so completely broken she's the only psychiatrist in a hundred mile radius with I'm sure thousands of patients a week, she can't be bothered to do much besides follow flowcharts and throw meds at people until something sticks. The number of times she's fucked with my meds to detrimental effects is staggering, I understand people who give up after the first try because it really takes a miracle to find something at random that will work.
I got diagnosed bipolar as a teenager and literally none of my dozens of medical providers in adulthood have read a single page in my records, it took another manic episode for them to even consider it wasn't unipolar depression and that throwing SSRIs at it wasn't a good idea.
Fucking hacks and leeches, all of them. Nothing but fuckups for years.

I know well enough what my experiences are, but thankyou for telling me they are after i said so myself. Besides one might want to address the original poster his/her question, considering this is his/her thread. And saying he/she should try, while already doing so and not seeing any results is generally not seen as very constructive.

I know people say this a lot, but if you have a problem that can be fixed so easily... then you had a problem that can be fixed easily. For more entrenched and difficult issues it's a lot closer to placebo than any kind of help.

My own experience with mental health in the UK has been that it's okay (in their view) for them to lie to you, mislead you and experiment on you.
Once I realised that their primary loyalty was to their "profession" and that to protect their professional standing and future careers they'd not respect my privacy or any "private or confidential" disclosures I found I could cope with them much better.
I'd just suggest you work on the basis of the two of you meaning well, but recognising that both of you are playing an elaborate game for the satisfaction of the medical establishment. That's what worked best for me.
Best wishes.
