A few months ago when I decided to CTB I wrote down all my dreams, each one on a separate notecard to start working through the things that would make me hesitate. There was all kinds of things - transition, travel, publish novels. As I wrote them down it was so painfully, comically obvious none of this stuff would ever come true. All these aspirations that had kept me going were just a mirage, and now the illusion was over. Dreams are great little escapes from reality, but the thing about dreams is that you always wake up.
Today I burnt them one by one, saying goodbye to get some closure. It turns out dreams burn as easily as the paper they're written on. It hurt a lot to see them disappear, but I do feel a little better, more assured in my decision to CTB.
