I just bought one SN. It's 500 gram/Rp 11.000,00. I asked through chat first at 8 am, said it's not food grade, but for industrial and the purity is 99%. I asked again when i shop there at 11 am, the worker there said it's 99% purity.

It came in a plastic (damn it why can't i post photo, it always failed), not a bottle. I'm worried about this, is this legit? I will buy some aquarium strip test later but if i cant find it I'll stick to blood test only...

What's the difference between 99% pure sn food grade and industrial grade? Isn't it just that the food grade has been tested for food safety, and the industrial grade has not been tested for unsafe impurities. If both compounds still contain 1% of impurities, wouldn't a food grade be better?

Who knows exactly what is in that 1% impurities in the industrial compounds, and maybe this is even the reason for some worse individual experiences--unknown compounds causing additional pain or side effects? Even if it's just 1% impurity, what types of impurities those are could still have a huge impact on experience.

Someone stop me if I'm off base. I have no idea. I'm just trying to reason it out. I'm not a chemist, but I also want to make sure I get it right, too. Purity testing seems to be the biggest issue a lot of people are facing. Aquarium strips don't really do the job perfectly and there are so many ways for things to go wrong in testing. We need a reliable testing method. :(

100% correct. An assay of 99% is the same whether food grade or industrial.

OP: Did you get a "verification" with the SN from the manufacturer stating that the SN is 99% pure?

If it's sodium "nitrite" and not "nitrate," industrial versus food grade should not be a problem if it's 99%. NaNO2.

(Not to be disrespectful, but just want to be sure you got the right stuff)

Sure, no problem. I didn't take it as disrespectful. It almost threw me for a loop a few times. I did get nitrite, but without a 99% on the label. My second batch does have the 99% label, but I'm still confused on testing methodology. I'm going to try a melting point test, instead of the aquarium strips.
